Josh watched Lydia walk away, his heart thumping like crazy. He couldn’t explain it, but she always gave him this strange feeling, like she was both an angel and a devil at the same time.
Lydia slid into the car and glanced at Connor. Before she could even open her mouth, he spoke up. “I’ve got people reaching out to our contacts over there. I sent them Luke’s photo, so they’ll help us look for him.”
Some undercover agents were stationed in Southeast Asia. Lydia knew the drill. She’d done it herself three years ago, going deep undercover in the biggest criminal organization. The problem was, human traffickers were experts at disappearing. They knew every trick to avoid cameras, always scouting the area first to find blind spots, then pulling off their schemes right where nobody was watching. They’d even plan escape routes through those same hidden gaps in surveillance.
Sometimes, they’d pass their victims from one person to another, switching locations to throw off the police. The ones who really knew what they were doing could even mess with the cameras, scrambling the signal just long enough to make their move and get away.
To make things worse, Lydia hadn’t noticed Luke was missing right away. With all her skills and connections, it still felt impossible. But no matter how hard it was, she was determined to find him.
Lydia listened and nodded. “Okay. You stay here. I’ll go.”
Connor’s cover had been blown three years ago. There were plenty of people over there who wanted him dead. If he showed up now, they’d be lining up to take their shot. But Connor just raised an eyebrow. “Since when have I ever been afraid to die?”
Lydia frowned. “But…”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
