**Chapter 328**

**AUTHOR’S POV.**

Alina lay ensnared in a thick, swirling fog of uncertainty, her mind a relentless carousel, spinning wildly with thoughts that refused to settle. The ceiling above her became a canvas for her restless imagination, and she couldn’t quite tell if she had truly drifted into sleep or if the night had simply stretched on interminably. The stillness enveloping her felt deafening, broken only by the haunting absence of Talia and Gabriel, their silence echoing in her heart like an unanswered prayer. Each fleeting moment pressed down on her chest like an anchor, heavy and burdensome, a weight she felt too weary to lift.

The soft creak of the door heralded the arrival of her mother, Luna, whose gentle voice broke through Alina’s reverie like a soothing melody. “Sweetheart, it’s time to get dressed… we’re going out.” Alina felt a flicker of resistance stir within her, a stubborn urge to retreat deeper into her cocoon of anxiety. Yet, as she lay there, she realized that the strength to resist was slipping away. With a reluctant nod, she surrendered, allowing her mother’s warmth and nurturing presence to envelop her like a comforting blanket.

Luna stood in the doorway, radiating care and grace, holding up a simple yet elegant outfit that seemed to exude comfort. Her eyes, filled with an understanding that transcended words, bore into Alina’s soul, offering a glimpse of the love and concern she felt.

“You need fresh air,” Luna said softly, her voice a soothing balm against Alina’s inner turmoil. “And a break from your thoughts.”

A faint smile flickered across Alina’s face, the closest she could muster to a genuine expression. “Have you been spying on me?” she teased lightly, attempting to inject some levity into the heavy atmosphere.

“I don’t need to spy,” Luna replied, her fingers brushing Alina’s cheek in a tender gesture that spoke volumes. “I just know my daughter.”

“Right,” Alina murmured, retreating to the bathroom to prepare for the day ahead. As she splashed cool water on her face, she couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that clung to her like a second skin, a persistent reminder of the chaos swirling within her.

Once they were both ready, they stepped out into the embrace of the morning light. The drive to the spa was wrapped in a comfortable silence, occasionally punctuated by Luna’s soft humming to the gentle tunes drifting from the car’s speakers. Alina stared out the window, watching the world whiz by—the people strolling along the sidewalks, cars gliding past, life unfolding seamlessly around her. She couldn’t help but wonder if anyone else carried the weight of their burdens as she did. It felt as if time had paused just for her, trapping her in a state of uncertainty.

“You’re gripping your phone like it might jump out of your hand,” Luna observed, her tone light yet tinged with concern.

Alina glanced down, surprised to find her knuckles white around the device. “Sorry,” she mumbled, embarrassment creeping into her voice.

“Don’t apologize, baby. Just breathe, okay? Everything will be fine.”

She tried to take a deep breath, but the tightness in her chest persisted, a stubborn knot refusing to loosen.

“We are here!” Luna announced with a burst of enthusiasm as they arrived at the spa, the building exuding an inviting serenity that felt like a warm hug.

Once inside, a wave of warmth enveloped Alina. The air was infused with the calming scents of lavender and eucalyptus, and the soft hum of tranquil music wrapped around her like a comforting embrace. She let out a small sigh of relief, wishing her mind could be as easily soothed as her body.

After changing into plush robes and soft slippers, Alina caught a glimpse of Luna in her attire. She looked radiant, as though she belonged in a world of luxury and relaxation. Alina, however, felt a disconnect, as if the softness of the robe was foreign to her skin, a stark contrast to the turmoil swirling in her mind.

During the massage, the skilled hands of the masseuse glided over Alina’s shoulders, but her muscles remained tense, unyielding. Each time she attempted to close her eyes and lose herself in the moment, a new worry surged forth, demanding her attention.

What if something terrible happened? What if Talia uncovered a dark secret? What if Gabriel revealed something she wasn’t prepared to confront?

“Sweetheart,” Luna’s voice drifted from the table beside her, muffled yet clear, “you’re holding tension like you’re expecting an attack. You need to relax.”

Alina exhaled shakily, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. “I’m trying to relax.”

“Trying too hard,” Luna murmured softly. “Relaxation doesn’t come from force.”

“Nothing comes easily these days,” Alina muttered under her breath, but Luna heard her.

A heavy silence settled between them, the weight of unspoken thoughts lingering in the air. Luna understood her daughter’s worries all too well, and it pained her that she felt powerless to help.

Gently, Luna reached out from under her blanket, her fingers brushing against Alina’s in a gesture of solidarity. “I’m here, baby,” she whispered, her eyes conveying a depth of love and understanding that words could never fully express.
