Chapter 32 He Can’t Retreat

Peter was breathing heavily now.

The Rat King shrieked and lunged at him again.

“You damn beast! Go die!”

Peter roared as his spear shot out like a dragon.

Lightning exploded around the spearhead.

The Rat King let out continuous cries of pain.

But at that exact moment, its hardened tail suddenly whipped toward Peter.

“Watch out!” Steven shouted.

But it was too late.

The tail slammed violently into Peter’s body, even cracking part of his armor.

Peter spat out a mouthful of blood in midair and was sent flying all the way back to Steven’s feet.

“Are you okay?” Steven asked worriedly.

Peter’s face had turned pale. Using the spear to support himself, he forced himself back up.

“Why are you still here? Waiting to die?” Peter snapped.

“I don’t dare leave! How am I supposed to know if there are more around here?”

“There aren’t any left here. Just those eight. Hurry up and go! Don’t drag me down!”

“You should’ve said that earlier!”

Peter coughed up another mouthful of blood.

The King crouched low, gathering strength.

Then, it shrieked toward the sky once again.

The sound seemed to travel deep underground.

Right then, Olivia’s voice came through the earpiece.

“Captain! A huge group of Bloodfang Rats is coming up from underground! There are Level 2 Bloodfang Rats, too!”

“Captain, there’s a Level 3 Bloodfang Rat King over on your side! Be careful!”

Peter’s face became grimmer than ever before.

Steven’s expression sank. “How many?”

Hearing that, Peter felt unprecedented pressure crushing down on him.

Facing Steven’s question, he didn’t even know how to answer anymore.

“Kid, once the Rat King draws the others here, find a chance and run.

“I honestly don’t know if I can hold them off.”

Steven’s expression turned serious. “Haven’t the other teams and the military already been notified?”

“We have. But they won’t get here that fast. When the time comes, you have to leave. Otherwise, I won’t be able to protect you.

Steven nodded. “Got it.”

The Bloodfang Rat King shrieked again and charged Peter once more.

Peter spat out a mouthful of blood. “Damn it! Kill!”

He exploded forward again, lightning surging around him as he fought desperately.

Steven sighed inwardly.
