Chapter 530 Old Friends, New Beginnings

“I live in the building right across from yours.”

Jemima Wilde let out a snort. “Coward.”

Zac’s eyes widened. “Who are you calling a coward? If I hadn’t shown up tonight, those three creeps would’ve made your life miserable!”

Jemima rolled her eyes and didn’t bother arguing.

Steven laughed and waved them over. “Come on, have a seat. Guess this is one of those situations where strangers become friends after a fight.”

Zac looked at Steven. “By the way, kid, I never got your name. I’m Zac Freeman, and this is Jemima Wilde. Seriously, thank you for tonight.”

Steven smiled and waved his hand. “I’m Steven Fisher, and this is my girlfriend, Bianca White.

“Honestly, even if I hadn’t shown up, you probably would’ve been fine. Didn’t you have an origin energy bomb?”

Zac gave a bitter smile and shook his head. “Fake. No way I could afford something like that. It was just a prop to scare people off. Worked plenty of times, though.”

Steven couldn’t help laughing.

The four of them ate and chatted as the night went on. Gradually, the alcohol wore off, and Jemima became much more sober.

She looked at Bianca with admiration. “Bianca, you’re seriously gorgeous. I’ve never met a girl prettier than you.”

Bianca immediately shook her head and said shyly, “No, no, that’s not true.”

Jemima was still slightly tipsy.

“Your boyfriend is one lucky guy. I’m jealous.”

Steven grinned. “No need to be jealous. You and Zac look pretty good together yourselves. He walks you home every day. Maybe you should give him a chance.”

Zac said, “Hey, don’t drag me into this. I have no interest in dating someone this scary.”

Jemima snorted. “Please. As if I’d pick you. Coward!”

She lifted her chin proudly. “You’re not good enough for me anyway. I’m never falling for a guy The only things I love are freedom and a good drink.”

Steven and Bianca exchanged amused smiles.

She was definitely an interesting person.

And honestly, Jemima and Zac really did seem perfect for each other.

Steven remembered the last life. Back then, Zac had carried only a single photograph of her. It was the only thing he had left. What happened to her? How did she die?

Steven quietly thought it over. Maybe if he could help Zac solve whatever had happened, Zac’s future might change too.

He simply wanted his old friend to have a better ending this time.

The group talked until nearly midnight. By then, they could finally call each other friends.

Steven didn’t ask any more questions.

There was no rush.

Helping Zac could wait. If he pushed too hard now, it would only seem strange.

Zac helped support the slightly unsteady Jemima.

“See you around, Steven. I’m taking this troublemaker home now.”

Steven and Bianca waved. “Be careful on the way back.”

Suddenly, Jemima stomped hard on Zac’s foot. He immediately yelped in pain.

“What do you mean, troublemaker? Call me a beautiful lady!”

Zac snorted. “You’re so noisy. Are you coming or not?”

Jemima huffed, but she still followed him home.

Steven and Bianca watched the pair disappear into the night.

Bianca tilted her head. “Steven, are they together?”

Steven nodded. “Not yet. More like two people who like each other but spend all their time arguing. They’ll end up together eventually. You saw it too, didn’t you?”

Bianca nodded. “When Jemima looks at Zac, her eyes light up. But it feels like she’s afraid to take that first step. Zac seems the same way.”

Steven nodded. “We’ll leave it alone for now.”

Privately, he considered asking someone to look into their situation. Maybe both of them were carrying burdens they couldn’t talk about.

Bianca wrapped her arms around Steven’s.

“Zac’s ending in your previous life wasn’t very good, was it?”

Steven smiled. “No. He lived a good and long life.”
