Chapter 669 Chaos on leavenspire Peek
Darby swung his sword.
The sword energy ripped through the poisonous fog as if splitting the sky itself.
His power formed a massive blade nearly 330 feet long. It crashed down from above.
“Die!”
The soldier activated his Sigil Armor and poured everything he had into blocking the attack.
Boom!
A deafening explosion shook the mountain.
The shield created by the Sigil Armor shattered instantly. A flood of sword energy crashed into him.
Pfft!
Blood burst from his mouth. His face turned deathly pale as he was thrown backward.
Countless cuts appeared across his body as the sword energy tore through him.
Within seconds, he was covered in blood.
But he didn’t hesitate.
Even badly wounded, he had to escape.
He knew there was no chance he could defeat Darby.
Temptress moved to chase him, but Darby stopped her.
“Forget him. Tell me what’s going on. How are these people finding you?”
Temptress quickly answered, “Someone brought him straight to me. He was incredibly fast. I didn’t even have time to react. That person must be the one who found me. He’s probably doing the same thing with everyone else.”
“Who was it?” Darby asked darkly.
Temptress shook her head.
“Forgive me, I did not get a good look. He was wearing armor, so I couldn’t see his face. But I think he was a Divine General.”
Darby stared at her in disbelief.
“Could it be Steven?”
After everything that had happened over the past few days, Steven was the only person who made sense.
Ashen had defeated the Thousand Shadows group and survived every ambush Darby had thrown at them.
Each time Darby’s men tried to surround them, they were killed with surprising case. Steven was also strong enough to kill level 6 beasts. Of everyone in Ashen, he was the most likely person to be behind this.
Darby’s expression darkened.
He had planned everything so carefully. Yet one unexpected person had thrown his entire strategy into chaos.
Everything was falling apart.
Originally, the battle had been completely under his control. All he needed to do was use the beast army to slowly wear down the enemy forces.
Once only a handful of survivors remained, Darby and his men could move in and finish them off withease.
But that plan wouldn’t work anymore. The beast army had fallen into complete chaos.
The Awakened were already rushing toward Heavenspire Peak.
“Fiendspawn, things are getting out of control. Gather everyone together. I’ll wipe them all out in one strike, then escape. The Sentinel System will only lock onto me; the others will be safe. After that, whether you can get your hands on the sacred artifact will depend on your luck.”
Darby thought for a moment, then nodded.
“Damn it! That’s our only option now.”
He turned sharply.
“Temptress, go notify the others. Tell them all to retreat toward Heavenspire Peak. Draw the Awakened here.”
“Yes!”
Temptress shot away.
Darby and the Goldbolt Ape moved to the path the Awakened had to take up the mountain.
Killing intent burned in Darby’s eyes.
His original plan could have wiped out this entire group of Draconian Awakened without losing a singleman.
Instead, he had already suffered heavy losses.
It was humiliating.
Right now, the person he wanted dead most wasn’t even Heath. It was whoever had been secretly ruining his plans from the shadows.
If Darby hadn’t cut off communications, his spies might have been able to contact him.
But there was no helping it. Every choice had a price.
