Chapter 195 The Big Things

Adrian said, “Mating. Having babies. That’s what really matters.

“Ms. Crawford, before you and Riven get to it, could you maybe… mate with me one more time?”

Annelise stared at him.

“You’re kidding, right? You just had your turn. The bruises on you haven’t even faded yet.”

“And let’s not forget, there’s a line. And you’re not next.”

Adrian popped out his bunny ears and rubbed them against Annelise’s cheek.

“Ms. Crawford, what if I just need one more try? What if that’s all it takes for me to have a baby too? Come on! Come on, please!

“Evan’s got one. Hudson’s got one. I’ve got nothing.”

Annelise huffed. “Rokky doesn’t have anything either.”

“He

count. He hasn’t even mated yet. He’s not trying. I am. Wanting it and not getting it is not the same as not even trying!”

Adrian scooted closer and told her that if he did end up with a baby, he’d be happy to spend the next ten days glued to her side.

That way Riven would lose ten whole days with her.

Annelise gave him the most unimpressed look.

This guy was using every ounce of brainpower on this nonsense.

“Stick to the rotation and quit trying

O mess up the order!”

Adrian let out a grumble as she walked off ahead.

He muttered under his breath about how she’d be back to cuddle him once she was done with Riven

anyway.

After that, Annelise went to check on the hideout the little ones had mentioned.

It was a massive cave tucked at the base of a mountain. From the outside, it looked shallow, barely big enough for a few people.

But inside, there was a sharp dip leading into a huge open space, big enough to shelter the entire tribe.

If disaster ever struck, the kids were supposed to go in first, followed by the adults, and then a few strong ones would roll boulders to block the entrance.

This place was sacred. It was their lifeline.

Their last resort. Their future.

And that twisted shaman had tampered with it.

Chapter 195 The Big Things

The entire floor was lined with pits of buried poisonous plants.

The plants hadn’t fully sprouted yet, but Annelise could already feel a wave of humid, stinging heat brushing up her throat.

She had to cover her face while digging, and even then, just pulling up one of the plants confirmed it. These were still in seed form when they were buried. The little ones must’ve done it unknowingly.

Now they were starting to grow roots, and with warmer weather, they’d burst through the ground.

And if something ever happened, and the tribe tried to hide here? They’d all be dead from poisoning.

“Wait a minute… the traps… and now poison in the shelter? That’s

ot random.

“If we get attacked, the strongest shifters would hit the traps first. Gone. No resistance.

“The rest? They’d retreat here. And walk right into this death pit.”

nelise smacked her thigh.

“She wants us wiped out.

“That shaman… how deep was she hiding?

“What, did she crawl through a sewer pipe into this world? Bathed in filth, drank it too.”

If all this was something the shaman set up after losing er tail, Annelise might’ve understood it as revenge.

But this? This had to have been in motion long before anything went wrong. She had been waiting for the

everything.

Imoment it all blew up-just so she could destroy o

After explaining everything to the High Priest, Annelise grabbed a piece of meat for a snack and went home.

She decided that having a few bites of meat between tasks wasn’t such a bad idea.

At least it kept the dizzy spells away.

Though to anyone else watching, that was definitely more than a “snack.”

By nightfall, things finally settled.

All of the traps the shaman left had been taken care of.

Annelise could finally breathe.

She even made up her mind to sleep in tomorrow.

But before that, she sat at the little stone table in the yard with all her mates-except Evan-and asked, “So… you all know about me and Riven, right?”

Hudson glanced at Rokky, then Adrian. He really wanted to check Evan’s face, but Evan was still resting inside.

His fever had only just come down, and he was still shaken.

Adrian didn’t care about anyone else. He said, “What, that you two went from hating each other to making
