Chapter 18 I Owe You a Favor
What does she mean?
What the hell was my in-game?
My crush?
Stolen by who?
Kaylee?
Oh. Right. That would be my younger sister, Kaylee Sinclair.
The biological daughter of the Sinclairs.
By the time Philip accompanied Hendrick to find Wynne, they saw her standing in front of a self-serve coffee machine, letting out a cold, sarcastic laugh.
The sight alone gave Philip a chill down his spine.
“The surgery was a success,” Hendrick said.
After nearly losing his grandson, his voice still carried the exhaustion and relief of someone who had just survived a nightmare.
“Mm.”
Wynne casually tapped the screen of the coffee machine and ordered an iced coffee.
She really needed something to cool her temper down.
Hendrick continued, “That glass fragment…”
“Your grandson has been in a car accident before, hasn’t he?” Wynne cut him off impatiently.
Hendrick fell silent for a short moment.
“I owe you a favor,” he finally said with a long sigh.
Philip felt his heart jolt violently at those words. No one understood better than he what a favor from Hendrick meant.
“I don’t want anyone coming after me because of this surgery,” Wynne said.
She downed her iced coffee in one go and tossed the empty cup straight into the trash.
It went straight in.
Her voice was ice-cold.
Ever since she found out her in-game crush had been stolen, there had been a dull, constant ache in her heart. It was this body’s instinctive reaction, and it made Wynne even more irritated.

Chapter 18 1 Owe You a Favor
“I’ll see to it that everything is handled,” Hendrick gave his promise.
At the same time, Philip handed over a card. In that instant, Wynne’s earlier irritability vanished without a trace. Her striking amber eyes locked sharply onto the card in his hand.
Philip was speechless.
Could you be any more obvious?
“The password is six zeros.”
“I’ll take it.”
Wynne accepted the card without the slightest hesitation. After all, she had earned it.
“I’ll have Philip drive you back,” Hendrick said.
He coughed lightly. His usually stern face actually showed a rare, faint smile.
On the way back, Wynne fiddled with the phone covered in pink rhinestones. All sparkly and flashy. The terrible taste made it hard for her to accept that this had once belonged to her. Honestly, it was painfully tacky.
She powered it on.
The good news was that the punk-haired girl had at least kept it charged.
The bad news was…
Philip glanced at her through the rearview mirror. A thick, almost suffocating killing intent was spreading rapidly from the passenger seat.
“Do you… need any help?” he asked after a moment of hesitation.
Wynne slowly turned her head to look at him.
But she didn’t say anything.
The silence that followed was deafening.
Electron Plaza. Night had fallen.
Wynne and Philip’s arrival felt completely out of place here, as if they didn’t belong to the same world at all.
Wynne wore an oversized black hoodie, her face cold and strikingly beautiful-too refined, too sharp to belong here. With Philip standing behind her like a tall, disciplined bodyguard, she didn’t look like a customer at all. More like a young heiress out experiencing ordinary life for fun.
“This one. This one. And this one…”
Her fingers pointed lazily at the items on the shelf.
At first, the shop owner assumed she was just a clueless girl. He even tried to push some cute but overpriced

prebuilt junk on her. But the moment she started naming specific components, his expression changed
This girl knew her stuff.
She was a pro.
“Why not just buy a prebuilt computer?” Philip asked, clearly puzzled.
From his perspective, nothing about Wynne matched the investigation report.
The file said she was rebellious, didn’t study properly, skipped classes, and constantly got into trouble. Her parents even described her as a headache. But now?
Yes, she was rebellious. Yes, she was probably a headache. But skipping class and not studying? What exactly had she been doing instead?
When Philip thought back to her expressionless face in the operating room, calmly slicing open a patient’s chest without hesitation, the question remained unanswered.
“The specs aren’t up to par.” Wynne replied lazily.
Hands in her pockets, she stood there composed and unbothered, lifting her eyelids slightly as she tossed the answer at him.
It was already rare enough for her to show this much patience.
After leaving Electron Plaza, Philip went to the parking lot to get the car.
Wynne stayed where she was, lazily adjusting her hood back over her head, covering most of her face.
Thinking about what had been on that phone earlier, her mood only got worse.
She clicked her tongue in irritation. Then she heard some movement come from a nearby dark alley.
Wynne turned her head.
Her eyes lit up faintly in the darkness.
In the alley, a group was beating someone up.
“We finally got you this time!”
The boy with crew-cut hairstyle who had been ambushed was lying on the ground, taking brutal kicks from multiple directions. Even so, he didn’t make a single sound. Blood ran down from his brow, but his sharp features only made him look even more vicious, just as ruthless as the group surrounding hum.
“Hey.” A lazy female voice suddenly cut through the air.
Everyone stopped and turned toward the source.
At the mouth of the alley, where light and shadow met, the speaker stood with most of her face hidden beneath the hood of a black hoodie. Only a faint glimpse of her pale skin showed. Hands still in her pockets, she gave off a rough, almost untouchable air.

One of the group shot back. “Hey, mind your own damn…”
Before he could even finish, he was kicked in the chest and sent flying backward onto the ground.
