Reborn as the Boss Lady novel Chapter 22

Chapter 22 Kaylee Called

The message behind Alex’s words was obvious. The clue ended here.

Wynne let out a cold laugh.

She lifted her gaze toward Jerome.

Whatever pain her big boss had endured yesterday, sooner or later, she would make the culprit pay for it.

That was just how vengeful Wynne could be.

“Mr. Cromwell, do we need to replace the people again?”

“If it wasn’t Dahlia, someone else would’ve made the move anyway.”

Jerome’s tone turned cold and sinister, carrying a bloodthirsty chill. As long as he was alive, the people who wanted him dead would never stop coming. Replacing them made no real difference.

“Spread the news that Dahlia died suddenly.”

He wanted to see what other tricks they still had up their sleeves.

“Since the garden is empty now, can you leave me a patch of land to grow some things?”

Wynne seemed to think of something, her usually lazy expression turning a little more serious.

“And if possible, I’d like a room for a pharmaceutical lab.”

Jerome looked at her for a long moment.

“Whatever you want.”

Because of what happened yesterday, the usually stoic Alex spoke to Wynne with a hint of respect. “Ms. Sinclair, just write down what you need and give me a list.”

“Ms. Sinclair, this is what you left in the car yesterday.”

Brian walked in carrying a box of computer parts, his face full of curiosity.

But before he could ask anything, an unfamiliar ringtone cut through the room.

Wynne took out her phone. The moment she saw the caller ID, she gave a lazy smile, a trace of mockery slipping out from her throat.

It’s Kaylee, her dear sister!

Wynne raised a finger at everyone, signaling them to be quiet.

She turned on speakerphone.

“Wynne, where the hell are you?!”

The shrill, sharp voice on the other end of the phone was filled with hostility and arrogance

Jerome’s expression darkened instantly. His sickly handsome features sank into shadow, his eyes completely devoid of warmth.

He glanced at the phone, his gaze like ice shards.

But Wynne, on the other hand, just let out a low, wicked smile.

“Kaylee, didn’t you already know I got kidnapped?”

She idly played with Rolly’s tail in her hand, her smile carrying a faint, dangerous chill.

“Who knows what kind of shady people you’ve been hanging around with anyway!”

On the other end, Kaylee sounded like a cat on a hot tin roof, her voice turning sharp with anger.

“You getting kidnapped because you don’t behave yourself! Who are you trying to blame?!”

Wynne didn’t respond. Her attitude was loose, indifferent, almost bored. She rested her cheek on one hand, listening as if it were all a waste of time. Meanwhile, Dylan was furious, cheeks puffed up in anger.

“You’re pretty disappointed I didn’t die, huh?”

Wynne tapped the table twice-an obvious sign of her growing impatience.

“Why would I be disappointed? It’s not like I was the one who kidnapped you…”

Kaylee kept rambling on, and even through the phone, the guilt leaking through her voice was obvious.

“Huff… Huff…”

Dylan toddled over, his bright eyes full of anger. He looked like he was about to make a sound, but Wynne pinched his little mouth shut before he could.

He looked like a little duck bill.

Dylan blinked, looking innocent as could be.

“Kaylee, just say what you want.”

Wynne’s eyes turned cold and distant. Her patience was clearly gone.

“Tonight at 8 p.m. in Noveria Dominion, Cupid Island. Vaelthorn and I are getting married. I hope you can

come.”

Kaylee’s smugness was practically overflowing.

But Jerome’s expression shifted the moment he heard the words “Noveria Dominion.” A faint, unusual glint flickered through his cold eyes.

Noveria Dominion was the most popular online game in the country over the past decade. According to official statistics, the game alone had generated 17.6 billion in revenue for the company behind it, the Noveria Group.
