Reborn as the Boss Lady novel Chapter 7

Chapter 7 He’s My Meal Ticket

Downstairs at the private hospital, in the coffee shop.

The barista stared in shock as Wynne dumped six shots of syrup into her iced coffee and drank it in one go. Even then, she still looked tired and laid-back.

Still, kind of captivating to watch.

Thud. She set the cup down on the counter, the ice cubes rattling against the glass.

Her gaze drifted toward a seat by the window.

An upright-looking elderly man sat there with a pair of boy-girl twins.

The girl looked weak and sickly, while the boy was full of energy, jumping around with a face covered in

sweat.

Wynne glanced at the boy’s leg but didn’t say anything.

The elderly man suddenly looked her way, his sharp eyes full of natural command. But before he could speak, the chimes at the door jangled. Audrey walked in, charging straight for Wynne in her limited-edition Jimmy Choo heels.

“For someone so young, you’ve got quite the tricks.”

Audrey looked down on her arrogantly. With Jerome not around, she didn’t take Wynne seriously at all

She just thought of her as Jerome’s plaything.

Wynne raised an eyebrow, unfazed.

She watched as Audrey pulled a ladies’ cigarette out of her Hermès bag, flicking it between her fingers.

“Say it. Name your price.”

“What the hell are you talking about? I mean, Ma’am?”

Wynne lowered her lashes slightly, her whole vibe turning cold and proud.

“M…Ma’am?”

Audrey’s face twisted with anger. She looked like she wanted to tear Wynne apart on the spot

“Don’t think you can act all high and mighty just because you’re hooked up with Jerome. Ever since he lost the use of his legs, people have been lined up waiting for him to die. And he’s still dragging that little mute

around with him?”

Audrey sneered arrogantly, nothing like the timid way she acted in front of Jerome.

Her eyes swept over Wynne from head to toe, clicking her tongue.

But deep down, she couldn’t hide her jealousy.

Chapter 7 Hes My Meal Ticket

This little tramp’s face is flawless from every angle.

Neither of them noticed Alex standing in a quiet corner, his phone aimed directly at them. He was live- streaming the entire encounter straight to Jerome’s phone back at the hospital.

In the hallway outside the VIP ward, Jerome sat in his wheelchair where the light met the shadows. His dark eyes were fixed on the screen, a violent aura swirling around him like a storm ready to swallow everything in its path.

Brian swallowed hard, his legs shaking.

He silently prayed that Wynne wouldn’t say the wrong thing.

Back in the coffee shop, the standoff continued.

“You dare say that to Mr. Cromwell’s face?”

Wynne lightly tapped the counter, signaling the barista to refill her coffee. She leaned back lazily in her chair, her pale fingers glowing softly under the sunlight.

“Heh, I just hate to see a pretty face like yours get ruined by that lunatic Jerome!”

Audrey smiled in a seductive, mocking way.

“Lunatic?” Wynne repeated the word, sounding genuinely amused.

“You didn’t know?” Audrey feigned surprise, clearly trying to pique her quriosity.

Jerome has always been bloodthirsty. No one even knows how much blood is on his hands. And after that incident, he completely lost it. Being around a man like that… Girl, how many lives do you think you have to play with?”

“What incident are you talking about?”

Wynne’s curiosity was piqued.

“Be my eyes and ears on him. I’ll give you a million. Do something for me when I need it, and Ill pay for you to go to school abroad. What do you say?”

Audrey lit her slim cigarette and took a deep drag.

To her, Wynne looked like a high schooler. She didn’t know how Wynne got involved with Jerome, but girls that age? Easy to manipulate.

No effort needed.

From the corner, Alex watched them coldly. He was curious too. What would Wynne choose?

“A million?”

Wynne suddenly looked a little dazed, like the number had stunned her. Seeing that, Audrey smirked in disdain. I knew I could handle this brat.

“Is a million a lot of money?”

Wynne casually swirled her coffee.

“Of course it is!” Audrey answered offhandedly.

To her, a million was just a few trips to the spa, but as a price for a spy right next to Jerome, it was a steal!

“But, do you have any idea how much Mr. Cromwell gives me, Ma’am?”

Wynne suddenly leaned forward slightly, a faint smile on her lips. Her amber eyes were almost hypnotic.

“How much?”

Audrey took the bait, leaning in with her cigarette held high. She didn’t even care about being called “Ma’am” anymore.

Before she could get an answer, a cup of iced coffee was dumped right over her head. The bitter smell spread instantly through the air.

“Ahhh!” Audrey screamed, covering her face.

“You bitch!”

She lunged at Wynne, trying to grab her, but before she could even get close, Wynne’s white sneaker came up and kicked her straight in the stomach.

Audrey clutched her stomach and dropped into a crouch on the spot.

Everyone froze.

No one made a sound.

The coffee shop went dead silent. In the corner, Alex’s hand shook slightly as he held his phone

That kick looked brutal!

“Even if Mr. Cromwell is a lunatic, it’s not your place to talk about him like that!”

In an instant, Wynne dropped the innocent act completely. She pressed her tongue against the back of her teeth, looking annoyed.

Who does this woman think she is?

How dare she talk about my meal ticket like that?

To Wynne, Jerome was a walking hundred million!

“As long as I’m here, no one’s taking Jerome’s life!”

Wynne lifted her chin slightly, her voice cold and commanding as she looked down at Audrey. Seriously? No one ever told her that smoking indoors is rude?

“He’s my-”

The live feed cut out abruptly. Back in the hospital corridor, Jerome was still looking down at his phone The suffocating, violent aura around him had suddenly vanished. Brian finally let out the breath he’d been holding.

Holy crap!

Ms. Sinclair was way too bold!

Saying Mr. Cromwell belongs to her? It’s embarrassing just hearing it!

When she gets back, will Mr. Cromwell snap her neck?

Back in the coffee shop, Alex, who had dropped his phone in shock, clearly heard the word Wynne finished her sentence, “… meal ticket.”

He looked down at the black screen of his phone, debating whether he should report the exact line to Jerome.

Is that…

Even…

Necessary?

“I’m going to make you pay for this, you little bitch!” Audrey shrieked, soaked and sticky, sounding like a squeaky toy.

Wynne’s response? A cold smirk and a middle finger.

Fuck you!

Bring it on!

“Charge the cleanup to him.”

Wynne casually pointed toward the corner where Alex was standing, then stepped over Audrey and headed for the door.

Alex was at a loss for words.

Since when did she know I was here?

Just as Wynne was about to head out the door, she stopped as if she’d forgotten something. She turned back to look at the distinguished old man by the window.
