Reborn Cave Queen of the End Times novel Chapter 101

Chapter 101 The Basement of Steel Claws

Even if they were the enemy, they had still earned Autumn’s respect

With the aftermath taken care of, it was time to collect the supplies.

“Asher, get down here. We’re all in the basement,” a teammate’s voice crackled through her earpiece

“Copy that.” Autumn’s voice was unusually hoarse, but unwavering. It was as if nothing in this world could shake her anymore.

The Steel Claws basement lay 60 feet beneath the building.

When Autumn got there, even she froze at the sight before her.

More than a dozen men were lined up, bent over as they vomited violently.

Above their heads hung strip after strip of dried meat.

Wait-dried meat? No. Rather, they were severed limbs.

The most horrifying sight was the row of lamps hanging on the wall.

Some of them were unmistakably shaped like three- or four-year-old children.

Even Autumn, who had seen more than most people ever should, couldn’t stop herself from gagging.

Fighting back the nausea, she forced herself deeper inside. There she found an enormous stockpile of supplies and a processing area where “forbidden ingredients” had been turned into food.

This time, Autumn couldn’t hold it in. She spun around, braced a hand against the wall, and vomited.

Having finally emptied their stomachs, the men stumbled over to Autumn, their faces pale and shaking. “How could they do something like this? They had more than enough food!”

Autumn wiped the corner of her mouth and answered with a hoarse voice, “Because they probably knew the apocalypse wasn’t ending anytime soon. They were afraid that once their food ran out, there’d be nothing left, so… So, they decided to slaughter an entire town,”

“How could anyone bring themselves to do that?”

Autumn let out a cold, humorless laugh. “You think this is new? History is full of people turning to cannibalism. Look at ancient ritual sacrifices, or the warlord eras when human flesh was literally given nicknames on the market-tough to cook’ for old men, ‘better than mutton for young women, and tender

down to the bone’ for children.”

Needless to say, just when the guys had finally stopped throwing up, Autumn’s explanation sent them rushing to throw up all over again.

“Alright, if you can’t stomach it, go outside first,” Autumn said. “Dawn’s coming. Hurry up and sweep the area for anything useful. I’ll handle this room.”

Appreciate it. Autumn” The men bolted for the exit, terrified that if they stayed one second longer, they’d Agar something even worse

Once they were gone, Autumn forced herself to ignore the nausea and began sorting through the stockpile.

Anything normal went straight into her storage space.

Anything even slightly off? They were doused with a can of gasoline.
