Chapter 129 The Sniper Who Wouldn’t Die

“The eastern shelter and the southeastern shelter have already fallen. The southwestern shelter is in turmoil, the northwestern and northeastern shelters have suffered devastating losses, and the Jyncrest shelter is in complete chaos. Other than the central shelter, who else could you possibly turn to. Mr. Wright?

“Before we came, our superiors specifically instructed us to treat you with respect and reason with you properly. You’re a smart man, Mr. Wright, and everyone knows you’re fair and easy to work with. I’m sure you’ll understand what I’m saying, right?”

Leonel took the loudspeaker from James and called back across the battlefield. “Who’s in charge over there?”

The other side thought they had an opening and immediately replied, “Deputy Director John Cooke is in command. Mr. Wright, Deputy Director Cooke genuinely admires you and sincerely hopes you’ll join us in building a better future together!”

“Oh? John Cooke?” Leonel replied casually. “That won’t happen. We were never destined to get along.” Then he added with a straight face, “Besides, I hear he isn’t picky about men or women. A handsome guy like me might end up getting taken advantage of, and then I’ll never find myself a wife.”

The other side froze.

What the hell was that supposed to mean?

The corners of Leonel’s lips curled upward. “If they’re afraid of damaging the supplies, what are we waiting for?” he said. “Open fire!”

The moment the words left his mouth, Leonel’s side launched their attack.

His position already occupied the high ground, while the forces surrounding them were all gathered at the foot of the mountain. The narrow, winding path up the slope was steep enough as it was.

If this had been during the extreme cold, Leonel wouldn’t have had many options.

The frozen terrain had smoothed over every ravine and obstacle. You could practically gallop an elephant across the ice.

But things were different now. The extreme heat had completely dried up every trace of water, exposing the mountain’s naturally treacherous terrain once again-a perfect defensive position where a handful of defenders could hold off an army.

On top of that, the attackers couldn’t bear to destroy the mountain of supplies everyone coveted. As a result, they immediately found themselves on the defensive, pinned down by Leonel’s overwhelming firepower and unable to move.

Of course, despite holding the advantage, Leonel knew it was only temporary.

Breaking the stalemate still depended on Beckett and Autumn.

Beckett was tied down on his own front while simultaneously trying to identify the correct target from intless suspicious possibilities.

Autumn wasn’t having an easy time either.

Three separate teams had already tried to ambush her.

Thanks to the unfair advantage of her storage space, she remained completely unharmed while ensuring none of her attackers ever returned.

That was enough to make the enemy panic.

“What the hell is going on? We’ve already sent three teams and still haven’t found that sniper?” the commander behind the scenes roared, slamming his fist onto the table. “Just what kind of monster did Beckett train? I refuse to believe I can’t eliminate one sniper! Send fifty men this time! Deploy the elites!!

“Don’t let your emotions get the better of you. Our objective is the supplies,” someone reminded him.

But the man was too furious to listen. “Who’s in command here-you or me?”

The other person immediately fell silent.

“I’ve always been second to Beckett. I refuse to believe that, even after the apocalypse, I’ll still lose to him!” the man snarled. “Send them. Wipe out that sniper. I’ll take back what’s mine with my own hands.”

Meanwhile…

After eliminating one suspect after another, Beckett finally pinpointed the correct location.
