Reborn Cave Queen of the End Times novel Chapter 132

Chapter 132 The Insect Tide

From the south, the sky darkened beneath a living blanket that blotted out the sun.

Autumn’s pupils contracted. She spun around and shouted at the top of her lungs, “Leonel! Hurry! Get everyone back into the shelter! Full defensive lockdown! The insect swarm is coming!”

Everyone who had followed her out of the cave turned pale.

Not a single person wasted time asking whether she was sure. They immediately scattered in every direction to spread the warning.

Autumn rushed back into the cave and, together with David, frantically covered every entrance and exi with reinforced steel mesh.

One layer wasn’t enough, so they added another.

Even three layers didn’t feel safe, so they added two more.

No matter what, they were determined to turn their cave into an impregnable steel cage.

Leonel’s side moved just as quickly.

The entire cave complex was enclosed in ultra-dense, high-tensile steel mesh, electrified and coated with concentrated acid.

He also contacted the shelter and Beckett’s Aurora Base, warning them to prepare immediately.

Beckett’s people responded with the greatest speed and efficiency.

The farming plots were the first to be moved back into the caves and sealed behind multiple layers of protective mesh.

After that, every residential cave was fitted with reinforced doors and electrified fencing.

Everyone withdrew underground. Only drones remained outside, circling overhead on patrol.

The shelter, however, reacted much more slowly.

Many people dismissed the warning as an overreaction, taking their time instead of hurrying back. Leonel contacted Autumn over the radio. “Autumn, what kind of insects are we dealing with this time?” Her answer was cold and immediate. “Mostly mutated locusts, mutated moths, and mutated bloodworms. There’ll also be mutated cockroaches, mutated ants, and mutated beetles. If we’re unlucky, we’ll run into mutated caterpillars with bodies as tough as diamonds, The one thing they all have in common is that they never stop eating. They’ll devour everything they encounter: trees, grass, roots… even people. I once watched a man get surrounded by mutated ants. Fifty seconds later, there wasn’t even a skeleton left. Leonel, protect yourself. Whatever you do, don’t let yourself face these insects directly. Good luck to everyone.”

Leonel drew a sharp breath. “I understand. I’ll notify Beckett and Scott immediately

Atumn added quietly. “This wave is going to wipe out ten percent of humanity”

Leonel fell silent for a moment. “Understood. We’ll survive this.”

“Seal every ventilation opening tightly.” Autumn continued. “You can use highly toxic insecticide, but everyone has to wear protective suits and air filters. Otherwise the poison will kill people before it kill the insects.”

“I know” Leonel nodded. “I’ve got plenty of chemicals in storage. Want me to send some over?”

“No need. I’ve got my own.” After a brief pause, she added, “Warn the people on the neighboring hill too It’s up to fate whether they survive this.”

“Understood.”

The radio fell silent.

Autumn inspected every corner of the cave three more times before she finally felt at ease.
