Chapter 131 The Seeds of a Kingdom
Autumn operated the harvesting machine, scooping up crop after crop with practiced efficiency. The more she collected, the happier she became, grinning so widely it looked like her smile might split her face
This was food.
This was the very foundation of survival in the apocalypse!
When she finally finished and weighed everything one batch at a time, the results made her grin even wider.
Ten acres of wheat had yielded 50 thousand pounds.
Four acres of corn had produced 30 thousand pounds.
Four acres of rice had yielded 20 thousand pounds.
Two acres of sweet potatoes had produced 50 thousand pounds.
Two acres of potatoes had yielded 100 thousand pounds.
Then, there were the giant pumpkins. Those alone had produced 200 thousand pounds.
She’d struck it rich.
Science really was the way to farm.
Just look at all this grain. Even if every other supply she owned disappeared overnight, this harvest alone would keep her alive for a very, very long time.
Leaving her storage space, Autumn enthusiastically grabbed two bags of freshly harvested grain and headed straight for Leonel.
“Look! She dropped the sacks in front of him, looking immensely pleased with herself. “Well? What do you think?”
Leonel examined the grain for a moment before springing to his feet, his eyes lighting up. “This is incredible. You grew all this?”
“Mhm.” Autumn looked even more smug. “I learned from those teachers! Leonel, we’ll never have to worry about food again!”
Leonel’s expression became unexpectedly serious as he pulled out a chair for her. “Sit down.”
Autumn blinked. “What’s this about?”
Leonel looked straight at her. “Autumn, when are you planning to become the ruler of this apocalypse? I’ve got over three hundred people ready to follow you.”
Autumn immediately looked embarrassed. “I’ve never even thought about that
Then maybe you should.” His tone remained solemn. “You’ve seen what this apocalypse is like The central shelter bullies whoever it wants. Why? All we wanted was to carve out one peaceful corner for ourselves, and even that isn’t allowed. We’re not pushovers.”
Autumn sighed. “Leonel, now isit the time to step forward.”
She continued. “I understand what you’re saying. But the real trials haven’t even begun yet. One earthquake. One tsunami. One volcanic eruption. Any one of them could erase everything/humanity has worked for. If we’re going to talk about ruling anything, it can wait until nature finishes its own selection.
“I know.” Leonel nodded. “I just want you to know that no matter what you decide to do, I’ll stand behind. you. I don’t know much besides business, but if there’s something you need, I’ll find a way to get it.”
Autumn stared at him. “Then why don’t you do it yourself?”
“Because if you’re the one leading, everyone else will accept it.”
Back in her cave, Autumn stretched out on her reclining chair and kept turning Leonel’s words over in her mind.
What exactly had he meant? Was he testing her? Or did he genuinely believe she could one day rule the apocalypse?
Rule…
In her previous life, she wouldn’t even have dared dream of such a thing. Back then, all she’d thought about was surviving another day.
