Reborn Cave Queen of the End Times novel Chapter 150

Chapter 150 Her Plan

Autumn went quiet for a moment.

Did she even have a future?

She wasn’t sure.

In her last life, she’d held on for fifteen years through the apocalypse and never got to see what waited on the other side.

Would this life be different?

Yes. It would.

She was going to make sure of it.

“My future is definitely a stretch of land filled with birdsong and open air,” Autumn answered, her voice carrying a quiet, low weight. “Good crops growing tall. No more disasters. No more danger.”

Leonel’s eyes burned as they held hers. “And people? Is there anyone in that picture?”

“Yeah.” Autumn let the thought settle. “A group of people I can trust completely. People to grow old alongside.”

Leonel looked like he had more to say, but James came rushing in from outside at that exact moment. “Mr. Wright, Asher, something strange is happening out there.”

“Strange how?” Leonel and Autumn asked at the same time.

“All the animals in the livestock area are going haywire at once. The fishing crew says fish are jumping and churning all over the surface. And some people spotted snakes and rats throwing themselves into the water like something’s driving them.” James’ expression was grave. “It feels wrong. Like something very bad is on its way.”

Autumn was on her feet before the sentence finished. “That’s a pre-earthquake signal. Leonel, get everyone ready right now. This isn’t going to be a minor tremor. We’re looking at a magnitude ten, maybe an eleven.”

Leonel and James went pale at the same moment, their pupils contracting in unison. “Are you certain?” they asked together.

Autumn gave one heavy, deliberate nod. “I’m not staying to explain. I need to get back. Let’s hope the hilltop shelter is still standing when this is over.”

She turned and ran.

Leonel had seen enough in Autumn’s face to know there was no time to spare. The order went out immediately. “Everyone into the survival pods. Stay there and wait.”

Scott’s side had already picked up on the same signs and sent Leonel a warning on their own.

That kind of consideration said something real about where things stood.

The three groups had grown into something close to mutual dependency, each one feeling it when the others took a hit.

Beckett got the word too and moved at once, putting every single person into survival pods and keeping them there, eating and sleeping inside, nobody stepping out for any reason.

Autumn made it back to her cave, pulled her custom-built shelter straight into her storage space, and ea two-person aerospace-grade survival pod in its place. She waved David inside and followed him in.

“Is this really happening? What if you’ve got it wrong?” David asked, his voice wound tight with nerves.

“I wish I were wrong,” Autumn said, and the quiet weight behind those words said everything. “David, what’s coming next is beyond what any of us can stop on our own. We just hold on and hope.”

She hadn’t even finished the thought, and a faint trembling was already moving up through the soles of her feet.

Then the world began to spin.

The earthquake.

An earthquake isn’t a gentle back-and-forth swaying.
