Leonel scrubbed his hands over his face hard. “Having neighbors like that is a complete nightmare.”
Autumn gritted her teeth. “Why couldn’t this tsunami have hit the central shelter? It would’ve been nice if it had wiped out those scumbags!”
Beckett shook his head. “The central shelter has around ten million people now. The problem is, the tsunami probably would’ve drowned countless ordinary civilians long before it got rid of the parasites running the place. Regular people have suffered enough. The entire country’s population is probably under 100 million.”
Silence fell over the three of them.
There had once been well over a billion people.
In just a year and a half, only one-twentieth of that remained.
The reality was brutally cruel.
Beckett added, “Ruskara and Beautania aren’t doing much better. From what I’ve heard, each of them is down to around ten million survivors.”
Well.
They had it even worse.
“Oh, and Nipponia has been wiped off the map,” Beckett added.
Oh? Now that’s good news.
“Could we bypass the central shelter entirely and head straight northwest?” Leonel asked. “Is that basically the only place left in the end?”
Beckett turned to look at Autumn as well.
Autumn nodded after a moment. “More or less. But I don’t recommend traveling right now.”
“Why not?” Leonel and Beckett asked at the same time.
“Because acid rain is next, and it’ll last for half a year.” Autumn asked back, “Imagine the sky pouring concentrated sulfuric acid nonstop. What person or thing could survive that?”

Leonel and Beckett both sighed and said nothing.

Autumn stood up. “Fine. One disaster at a time. So, where are the weapons? While we’re at it, let’s collect all the heavy weapons that aren’t practical to move later.”
Beckett instantly perked up. “Okay, I’ll go arrange it right now!”
After Beckett left, Autumn turned to Leonel. “Do you think Beckett suspects me? Otherwise, why would he ask me to store all this stuff?”
Leonel sighed. Unable to help himself, he ruffled her hair. “Silly girl. Some things don’t need to be said out loud. It’s enough that everyone understands.”
Autumn rolled his words around in her head and got it. As long as she never admitted anything, everything would stay an unspoken understanding.
Once Beckett finished preparing everything, he came to let Autumn know.
She strolled over to the storage site and took one look. Everyone really was pretending not to
know.
There wasn’t a single guard.
Not one person in sight.
There weren’t even any lights.
Autumn had no choice but to pull a high-powered flashlight out of her storage space and collect things as she walked.
Some of the weapons were unlike anything she’d ever seen.
In her previous life, she didn’t know whose hands they’d ended up in. Maybe no one had ever claimed them at all, and they’d simply sunk beneath the sea, never to be discovered again.
It took Autumn over an hour to finish collecting all the weapons.
When she finally headed back, she turned a corner and saw even more people crowded onto the mountainside.
There were so many that there wasn’t even room to stand.
Many had no choice but to remain aboard the ships.
Luckily, both Scott and Beckett still had plenty of large boats, enough to accommodate

everyone.
Beckett had been right.
Given the current situation, even if Scott begged people to stay, they wouldn’t listen. They’d happily follow the people from the central shelter and leave.
As for whether they’d actually survive after getting there, only heaven knew.
Just as Autumn turned away, she heard David’s voice. “Autumn!”
She spun around. There stood David, whose clothes were ripped to shreds. He was on a boat, waving at her nonstop.
Standing beside him was Kayla, who had disappeared with him.
