Chapter 34 The Protective Suits

As soon as Scott finished speaking, someone wheeled a large crate into the room.

“There are 108 protective suits in here,” Scott said. “They’re made with the latest technology. The most conservative test results show they can regulate temperatures by about 122 degrees. But according to people who’ve actually worn them, they can handle closer to 140 to 158 degrees. In other words, even if you’re out in the blazing sun, you’ll feel cool instead of overheated. They also provide excellent protection against heat and cold, acids, and alkalis. They’re good stuff!”

Scott smiled smugly. “I moved fast and secured this batch from the research institute before anyone else could. Other cities found out too late. They’re still waiting in line.”

Leonel smiled. “I trust you, Mr. Marsh. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have come prepared to make a deal in good faith. But the quantity is a little off. I asked for 200.”

Scott was about to explain when Leonel interrupted him. “I can also personally gift you an additional three tons of gasoline.”

Gasoline was one of the most tightly controlled resources.

Three tons was an enormous amount under the current circumstances.

Scott was clearly tempted. After a long pause, he sighed. “All right, fine. You win. Worst case, I’ll just give up part of my own allocation. Mr. Wright, we’ll be doing business for a long time. Let’s call it making a friend.”

“Of course we’re friends.” Leonel shook Scott’s hand, then shot Autumn a quick glance.

Autumn counted the suits one by one. Only after confirming there were exactly 200 did she nod to Leonel.

“Who is this young man?” Scott turned to her. He was sure the person wasn’t on his list.

But anyone who stayed this close to Leonel couldn’t be unimportant.

Leonel raised an eyebrow.

Young man?

Well, she was dressed in an incredibly gender-neutral manner.

She looked completely androgynous.

Lowering her voice, Autumn answered hoarsely, “Asher Montclair. Mr. Wright’s assistant.”

Scott laughed. “Congratulations, Mr. Wright. Looks like you’ve added another capable assistant to your team.”

Leonel’s smile turned meaningful. “Thanks. Back at you-your own team is just as impressive.”

After they left the office, Leonel looked at Autumn. “My assistant, huh?”

“What else was I supposed to say?” Autumn replied flatly. “You don’t actually think people still have

mpathy for the weak these days, do you?”

Leonel laughed. “Fair point.”

Autumn stepped closer and lowered her voice. “If I can get more of those protective suits, how much profit could you make off them?”

Leonel’s eyes widened. “What do you mean?”

“I mean exactly what I said.” She looked at him. “If the suits are this scarce, demand has to be huge. If we sell them now, the profits should be enormous, right? I don’t know much about running a business, bul know how to get the goods.”

Leonel stared at her.
