Chapter 44 Left Behind

Clara was left behind on the rooftop, screaming in despair, “Are you really going to abandon me and save yourselves? If my dad finds out about this, none of you are getting away with it!”

The expressions of the others immediately changed.

They all looked toward Autumn.

Autumn seemed to be speaking to them, but it also sounded like she was talking to herself. “Wow, the rain’s really coming down hard. That roof is so narrow, and those tiles are so slippery. If someone accidentally slipped off the roof, there wouldn’t even be time to save them.”

The moment she finished speaking, the wealthy heirs and children of influential families exchanged meaningful glances.

Autumn pretended to busy herself, fiddling with this and that on the side of the motorboat.

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed that one of the young men from an influential family had a ruthless look in his eyes.

Clara clearly had a violent temper and had probably spent years ordering everyone around and treating them like servants.

The others had endured it because of her father’s position.

Under normal circumstances, they would have continued putting up with it.

But what time was it now?

The apocalypse.

Wasn’t it perfectly normal for someone to die?

Sure enough, it wasn’t long before the young man called out to Clara, “Jump down. I’ll catch you.”

Hearing that, Clara immediately looked pleased. “At least you know what’s good for you.”

She jumped off the rooftop.

The very next second, several people reached out at the same time and shoved her hard.

Clara stared at them in horror. “You…” Glug… Glug…

Within only a few seconds, she disappeared beneath the water.

Oh no. What are we supposed to do now? Why didn’t Clara jump this way?” the young man said with fake Concer

The others exchanged knowing looks. “Nothing we could’ve done. She slipped and jumped in the wrong duction We already did everything we could, right?”

Exactly. No time to waste. We need to hurry back and get help!”

The girl who had spoken politely before turned to Autumn. “Big sis, could you please take us to the shelter?”

“Sure.” Autumn accepted their gold jewelry, turned the motorboat around, and headed toward the shelter.

As they approached the shelter, the terrain became a gentle slope where the motorboat couldn’t continue without running aground.

Autumn dropped them off there and turned around to leave without waiting for the group to ask her to stay.
