"Good. If you get any new products, sell them to me first. Money isn't a problem." Autumn felt like she was glowing in gold light.
She was loaded.
The shop owner happily sent off her picky but wealthy customer. The moment Autumn left, she turned around and started shouting at her employees to pack everything as fast as possible.
Autumn changed into a different outfit and headed to the jewelry district.
She still had a huge pile of gold left. She didn't know if her storage space had reached its limit yet, but since the gold wasn't being used, she might as well turn some of it into cash.
She walked into a gold shop and placed two gold bars on the counter. "Sir, these gold bars were passed down through my family. The receipts and certificates were destroyed in a fire." She smiled. "Take a look and make me an offer."
The owner grinned. "Let's see."
He had seen plenty of people selling gold without paperwork. He had his own ways of handling it. As long as the gold was real, everything was negotiable.
"Nice quality." He tested one of the bars with a small torch. "They've been stored well. At least ten years old, I'd say."
Autumn laughed. "Who knows? If my dad hadn't lost money on an investment, I wouldn't be sneaking around trying to sell these. Give me a fair price. If I have more in the future, I'll come back."
"The international gold price is 5,000 dollars now. I can only offer you 4,200 dollars. Take it or leave it." The owner was straightforward.
"Deal." Autumn agreed right away.
The two gold bars weighed a total of about four pounds. They brought her 840,000 dollars.
She chose cash.
The richest man in Karthmoor had just been robbed. Sooner or later, people would start tracking the movement of gold. Any money going through a bank account could be traced.
She didn't want to fail before she had even gotten started.
Cash was the safest choice.
The owner didn't seem surprised. He simply called into the back. A few minutes later, someone carried out a suitcase full of money.
Autumn quickly counted it and took the case.
As soon as she left, the employee asked the owner quietly, "Should we make a move on this one?"
The owner didn't even raise his head. "Don't get any ideas. That kid may be young, but her hands are strong."
He tapped the two gold bars on the counter.
Deep fingerprints were pressed into the soft gold.
Pure gold was soft, but leaving marks like that with your bare fingers was no easy feat.
"She's brave and careful," the owner continued. "Didn't you notice? She wore a mask and gloves the entire time. She didn't leave behind a single clue."
At that moment, his phone rang. "What? You're saying the home of Karthmoor's richest man, Harry Hunt, was robbed? 50 tons of gold are missing?"
The person on the other end said something. The owner gave a vague reply and hung up.
Then he looked at the fingerprints on the gold bars and smiled quietly.
Autumn, meanwhile, had already changed clothes again. She visited another gold shop and used the same trick. By the time she sold more than a dozen gold bars, she was carrying nearly 20 million dollars in cash.
She couldn't make another move in Karthmoor. If anything else happened, people would start to suspect him.
Even so, her risk of being exposed had already gone way up.
Autumn went on another shopping spree.
She bought all kinds of health supplements.
She also bought cigarettes and alcohol. Cheap, expensive, and everything in between. If she saw it, she bought it.
For clothes, shoes, and hats, she only picked basic styles. She bought ten sets in every size, covering men and women, from babies to seniors.
She stocked up on everyday items too. Kitchen tools, dishes, disposable products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, water flossers, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, laundry detergent, bar soap, towels, cups, wine glasses, tea sets, toilet paper, sanitary pads, wet wipes, tissues, candles, kerosene, flashlights, glow sticks, and more. She bought as much as she could.
As for skincare products, she picked up facial cleansers, sheet masks, toners, lotions, serums, essential oils, sunscreen, primer, foundation, and perfume. She only bought ten sets of each brand. She didn't care much about those things anyway. If she needed more later, she could just use her duplication ability.
She bought two sets of every electronic device.
As for furniture and appliances, there was no need to buy too many. She could always pick them up for free later when society collapsed. She was only buying enough now in case she couldn't find complete sets then.
For all these purchases, she only paid deposits. The rest would be paid upon delivery.
