Reborn Cave Queen of the End Times novel Chapter 62

Chapter 62 Honey Traps and Cold Shoulders

That day, a team of a dozen-odd people rowed over to deliver a fresh batch of aluminum alloy they’d just scavenged to Leonel.

“James, think we could trade for some winter blankets and clothes this time?” one of the Westfield townsfolk asked.

“Sure,” James answered with a smile. “For a haul this size, you can get either five cotton blankets or 10 padded winter outfits. Which do you want?”

“We’ll take three blankets and four winter outfits.”

“Done.” James quickly wrote out a slip and sent them to pick it up from storage.

Just then, a young woman stumbled as if by accident and toppled toward James. “Oh!”

James stepped sharply back, and this time she really did hit the ground, hard enough to make a loud smack.

Pain twisted across the young woman’s face.

“You coming down with something?” James said, not batting an eye. “Better not spread it around here.”

The young woman got to her feet through gritted teeth, then touched her hair in a show of shy pique. “James, why didn’t you catch me? That really hurt.”

James gave her a smile that never reached his eyes. “Oh? Did it?”

Seeing he wasn’t biting, the young woman moved in closer and dropped her voice. “James, the truth is I’ve admired you for the longest time. My name’s Roxy Carson. I’m 23, and I’ve never even had a boyfriend. I’ve got something nice I’d love to show you. Meet me at the northwest corner tonight, midnight.”

With that, she flashed a bashful smile, spun around, and ran off.

The same little scene had played out more times than anyone could count..

Pretty much every man under Leonel with a name, some status, or an important post had been hit on by the girls of Westfield Town.

If Leonel hadn’t warned them in advance, if they hadn’t watched what happened to David with their own eyes, if they hadn’t seen Rex’s honey trap firsthand, someone really might have fallen for it.

Westfield might be nothing but a small town, but the girls it raised were fresh-faced and pretty, every one.

In an apocalypse like this, they couldn’t look polished and glamorous the way they used to, but they still kept themselves clean, neat, and put together.

You had to hand it to Evander’s foresight.

He understood the power of a marriage alliance.
