Chapter 72 The Cold Snap

Leonel smiled and said, “People always say parents will do anything for their children. I may not be a father yet, but I can still understand that feeling. Your daughter’s name is Ellora Cunningham right? Sure. no problem. If you trust me, you can send her over tomorrow to start classes. Or if you’d rather, come take a look at our classroom today first.”

“Really? Thank you so much.” Beaming, Zain followed Leonel toward the small classroom set up specifically for the kids.

Even from a distance, he could spot more than a dozen teenagers sitting upright at their desks, scribbling away furiously.

Sometimes they’d dive into topics far beyond him. Other times they’d erupt into heated debates. The whole scene felt remarkably advanced.

Staring at the formulas scrawled across the blackboard, which were also utterly indecipherable to him, Zain finally settled his resolve.

He’d already picked out several of the baby-faced boys in the room. They were all handsome and graceful. One glance told him that they were sharp.

If one of them ended up as his son-in-law, he could die content.

So before long, Ellora was sent over to study under Leonel.

As time passed, she genuinely grew close with several of the older boys. Every day she trailed behind them, and the boys spoiled her rotten until she became everyone’s favorite.

Watching this unfold, Zain felt overjoyed.

And where some found happiness, others found none.

Because Leonel and Killian had never accepted Evander’s terms, the matter between Willa and Killian had stayed unresolved.

Then one day, another brutal cold snap struck.

Temperatures plunged from just above freezing straight down to minus twenty.

Ground that had still shown rippling water now lay buried under sheets of crystal-clear ice.

Every furnace roared to life.

The extreme cold disaster had finally hit in full.

This sudden drop claimed three lives and left a whole group battling colds.

Even on Leonel’s side, several people had started sneezing, let alone the neighboring hill.

This round four people in Westfield Town froze to death, all elderly.

By the time they were found, their bodies had gone rigid as boards.
