Chapter 73 Offer
For all he knew, the two sides might genuinely end up tied together through marriage.
Zain might even bring his whole group over and join Leonel’s camp outright.
A five year age gap? Did that even count as one?
Plenty of people started young and grew into it.
More importantly, Zain’s side had unmarried young women too, and decent looking ones at that.
If those women actually started dating the boys on Leonel’s side, what chance would Westfield Town have left afterward?
Only then did Evander truly grasp how badly he’d miscalculated.
“Ah, forget I said anything.” He flipped his tone instantly. “I’ll head back right now and speak with Willa’s parents. We can’t wait until her belly’s too big to hide before holding the wedding. I’ll go now. No need to walk me out, Mr. Wright, none needed!”
With that. Evander scurried off in a panic.
The moment he left, Leonel and James traded a look and smiled at the exact same time.
Less than half an hour after Evander got back, he sent word to Leonel that they were ready to discuss Killian and Willa’s marriage.
Killian seized the moment to set his own terms. The betrothal gift would stay unchanged, but once Willa married in, she’d no longer belong to Westfield Town, answering only to this side going forward.
Evander had still felt a flicker of unease over that, until he glanced over and caught Zain’s twelve-year-old daughter leaning close to one of the boys, chatting away like childhood friends. The sight landed like a slap.
Evander stated his position at once. “Fine. That’s how it should work anyway. Once she gets married, she’ll probably stay with her husband more rather than coming over every other day.”
And just like that, Killian and Willa’s marriage got settled.
The wedding was fixed for half a month out.
As the days rolled on, the weather kept turning colder.
Every day. Autumn stared at the thermometer, watching helplessly as the temperature sank from -20 down further, finally leveling off for a moment at -70.
“Cold as hell, honestly.” Autumn couldn’t help but sigh. Hands tucked in her pockets, she lounged comfortably, breathing in the scent of flowers while music played.
“You really know how to relax.” Leonel stepped in from outside, shed his heavy coat, then peeled off the warm fur layer underneath, revealing a crisp shirt. Underneath that shirt, he clearly wore a protective suit ted for -148 degrees.
“Well, look who it is. Mr. Busy actually found time to visit me.” Autumn swung her feet, asking, “Not off playing your little undercover gaine today?”
