Autumn was the smallest and thinnest of the three, so she ended up sitting between Beckett and Leonel. The three of them found an empty spot on a bunk and squeezed together.

Everyone around them was sitting the same way.

The room was filled with a sour, rotten smell and other odors that were hard to describe.

Thankfully, it was winter, so the smell wasn’t as strong.

If this had happened during the hot summer, no one could have imagined how unbearable it would have been.

Just then, a rustling sound came from behind them, followed by a woman’s muffled groan.

Beckett instinctively turned around and saw a man covered in a foul smell pressing down on a woman. In broad daylight, he was trying to do something horrible to her.

Beckett immediately wanted to step in, but just as expected, Leonel and Autumn grabbed him and held him back.

The woman’s face was hard to see, but she didn’t put up much of a struggle. She simply let the man do whatever he wanted.

When it was over, the man tossed down half a flatbread, pulled up his pants, and walked away with a satisfied smile.

The woman picked up the flatbread and ate it quickly.

No one around them even looked over.

Clearly, people here had already gotten used to things like this.

The sight hit Beckett hard. His lips trembled several times, but in the end, he stayed silent.

At that moment, someone sneaked in from outside. With one glance, he quickly noticed that Autumn, Beckett, and Leonel were unfamiliar faces.

The man walked over quietly and said to the three of them, “Do you want to eat your fill and stay warm? Do you want to live a better life?”

Beckett asked curiously. “Who wouldn’t want that? But I don’t have any money.”

“Money? What good is money these days? It isn’t even worth wiping your ass with.” The man lowered his voice, becoming even more secretive. “Listen, I know a great place. Not only can you eat your fill and stay warm, but there are people there who can help us live a better life. Want to come?”

Beckett immediately turned to look at Autumn.

Autumn quietly nodded.

Only then did Beckett reply, “When do we go?”

Come on.” The man only said two words. He pulled his clothes tighter around himself, lowered his head, and hurried out.

“Follow him.” Autumn was the first to walk out after him Beckett and Leonel followed closely behind.

After leaving the shelter, the man kept stopping every few steps. He stomped his feet and blew warm air into his hands, fighting against the freezing wind as he spoke in a low voice. “You three are lucky. You go the chance to meet our leader. Most people aren’t that lucky. They don’t get the chance to receive our leader’s guidance.”

“Leader?”
