Chapter 87 A Wedding Trap
Autumn understood what Leonel meant almost immediately.
So he wants to bait them into revealing themselves?
Fine.
I’ll play along.
After Leonel left, Autumn grabbed the keys, headed to the storage area, entered the new passcode, and opened several of the warehouses.
She couldn’t help marveling at the sheer volume of supplies packed inside.
Leonel was a born businessman.
Even in the apocalypse, while everyone else scrambled from place to place just to survive, Leonel still found ways to trade and expand one stockpile after another.
Every item stored here could be used for barter.
More than 10,000 grain storage bins lined the warehouses, each capable of holding about II tons.
The stockpile also included exactly 100,000 silage containers, each capable of holding about 22 tons.
Bags of rice and flour were stacked everywhere.
Lastly, there were boxes upon boxes of instant noodles, spaghetti, macaroni, egg noodles, dried pasta, whole-wheat pasta, boxed mac and cheese, cup noodles, canned ravioli, potato flakes, cornstarch, packaged pasta sides, self-heating meals in various sizes, emergency ration bars, dehydrated vegetables, hot dogs, pickles, beef jerky, canned bacon, smoked sausages, and ham.
The supplies stretched as far as the eye could see.
Every inch of space was filled with canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned fish, canned beef, luncheon meat, and jerky in every imaginable flavor.
Autumn rubbed her nose and muttered, “Wow, he really knows how to turn a profit! If I ever set up a base, Leonel would be the first person I tried to recruit. He’d be perfect as my head of supplies!”
No more being jealous. I’m taking it. Every last bit of it!
The warehouses, which had been packed to capacity, were empty in an instant.
It was as if those supplies had never existed.
After Autumn left. Leonel had his people fill the cavern with things that weren’t worth much or were too difficult to carry off
These included thousands of tons of coal that would be nearly impossible to haul away, barrel after barrel, of gasoline and diesel fuel, large water jugs that were still easy to come by, cement, sand, stone slabs, utility doors, window bars, ceramic tiles, floorboards, and other construction materials.
With the valuable supplies gone, the passageways were finally clear enough for people to walk through.
The cavern suddenly felt open and uncluttered, ittaking it an ideal place to hold a wedding.
Back in Westfield, the residents had gathered around Evander for a meeting.
