Chapter 92 No Survivors

With that, Leonel and Autumn led the others outside.

Before setting the wedding plans in motion, Leonel and Autumn had both expected trouble-an event this important was bound to attract opportunists.

Whoever came and whatever they wanted didn’t matter.

They meant to use the attack to make a statement and remind every enemy exactly who they were dealing with.

As Leonel and Autumn reached the cavern entrance, several more explosions erupted in quick succession in the distance.

Screams followed almost immediately.

The mines hadn’t come from either Leonel’s or Autumn’s stockpile. Instead, several science teachers had built them from scratch.

With homemade mines, the damage depended entirely on what the builder packed inside.

The teachers had loaded these with extra shrapnel to make them as lethal as possible.

The attackers had no idea how wide the blast radius would be.

When the wounded attackers saw rusty nails and jagged metal buried in their flesh, many lost control of their bladders in terror.

Anyone with basic first-aid knowledge understood the danger.

With medicine and proper treatment almost impossible to find, tetanus was practically a death sentence.

Their panic was hardly surprising.

Some of the uninjured attackers were so shaken by the blasts that their legs gave out beneath them.

Their wet clothes only made the situation worse.

At nearly -148 F. the cold could kill them just as surely as tetanus.

The attackers had approached in a tight formation, but the first explosions broke their nerve and threw the entire force into chaos.

“What a bunch of amateurs,” Leonel said with contempt.

Autumn raised her saber, her voice cold and commanding. “Don’t underestimate them. Leonel. One overlooked enemy can still change the course of a fight. The only safe option is to wipe them out and leave no survivors’ I’m going in first!”

The Distant the words left her mouth. Autumn sprinted forward.

Her saber flashed in a smooth, effortless arc.

A head flew into the air, its eyes still wide with disbelief.

Cold sweat prickled across Leonel’s back at the sight.

He hadn’t realized an attacker was hiding right under his nose.

If Autumn hadn’t spotted the threat and moved first, Leonel might have been caught in the ambush.

Autumn dropped into a roll and came up beside a snow-covered mound.
