Elena took the day off from school.
She intended to see exactly what this fiancé looked like. Before she left, however, she received a call from her Mentor.
"Master!" Elena's eyes misted over.
Having lived through death and returned, hearing a loved one's voice brought a rush of emotion only she could understand.
"Elena, are you alright?" the old voice rasped over the line.
"I'm fine, Master," Elena replied, confused by the concern.
"I'm contacting you because I have a task for you."
"Name it, Master." She would do anything he asked.
"I need you to save a man named Dylan Sinclair. Find him, and help him."
Elena frowned. "Dylan Sinclair? Who is he?"
"You will find him. This man is your benefactor."
Elena was puzzled. She didn't recall owing anyone a debt of that magnitude.
Her Master explained, "Elena, I know you have been reborn. You experienced death, and your ability to return to this world is tied to him. Is that not a debt?"
Elena was stunned.
Her Master knew about her rebirth.
"Master, how is this possible?"
"I will explain everything in time. For now, just complete the task I have given you."
"Understood."
Hanging up, Elena felt a knot of questions in her chest. She thought she was the only one who knew about the time loop. But her Master knew everything. Why?
She pushed the thoughts aside. She would visit her Master personally when she had time.
"Elena, aren't we going to see your fiancé? Let's go," Amanda called out.
"Coming." Elena joined her mother.

"Water... water... Ann, give me water!"
In a dilapidated house, a man stared at the middle-aged woman in front of him.
The woman, possessing a face etched with cruelty, turned to pour water, muttering curses.
"I must have been cursed in a past life to end up serving you. All you do is soil the bed! Can't you eat less and drink less? It's disgusting! It stinks in here!"
The woman poured the cup but didn't bring it to his lips.
Instead, she held it high and tipped it, forcing him to catch it with his mouth like an animal. Dylan managed a swallow, but the rest splashed over his face and soaked into the filthy bedding.
"You... you dare treat me like this!" Dylan choked, furious.
He tried to clench his fists, but his body wouldn't obey. He lay there like a living corpse.
"Hmph! Why wouldn't I dare? You should be grateful for a drop of water. Do you still think you're the Young Master? You're less than a dog now! Don't try to pull rank on me!" the woman sneered.
