"That was then, this is now. If you're not happy about it, you can go back and climb the window."
Theresa: "..."
Infuriating!
With the evidence in hand, Theresa marched forward in a huff.
Logan followed at a leisurely pace, holding his phone.
He hacked into the surveillance system and erased the footage of him and Theresa entering and leaving.
It wouldn't be good if the higher-ups found out.
After leaving, Theresa immediately called the Health Department.
She was going to have them inspect the place. The manager would have to take this seriously then.
In the afternoon, the Health Department actually showed up with a team.
It was because of the tip-off.
"Wow, the Health Department is here. Theresa, did you report this?" a colleague asked.
"Yes, it was me. Let the inspectors check it out. I refuse to believe they won't force a correction."
Rachel Ward scoffed and went back to work.
She then handed a stack of documents to Theresa. "Theresa, organize the data from these files for me. I need them by tomorrow."
"Okay."
Theresa worked while waiting for the results of the inspection.
An hour later, the Sales Director walked over.
"Theresa Graham!"
"Director, what is it?"
"Pack your things and leave. Go to HR and settle your salary for the past few days."
Theresa being fired seemed to be within everyone's expectations.
There was no logic in being kicked out of her own company.
While Theresa was brooding, she looked at her colleagues.
"Hey, why won't any of you speak up? Isn't the company cafeteria issue everyone's problem?"
"Theresa, Mr. Cooper runs logistics. We all know his connections. Who would dare? I don't want to get fired."
"Yeah, you can't fight the powers that be. Just let it go. I just won't eat at the company anymore; I'll bring takeout."
Rachel walked over and took the documents back from her desk.
"No need to do the data. Since they told you to go, just go," Rachel said disdainfully.
She knew early on that Theresa wouldn't last a month.
"It doesn't matter if I leave, as long as the cafeteria problem gets solved," Theresa thought, trying to console herself.
"Give me a break. You didn't see it? Mr. Cooper and the guys from the Health Department were acting like old buddies. They were super chummy. They're probably out having a nice meal together right now. I don't know if I should call you stupid or naive," someone said, shaking their head.
"What? Are you saying the Health Department won't handle it? The kitchen is filthy!"
