“Throw it away? I think I should throw you away! They asked us to bring it, so we’re bringing it. If the eldest’s family finds out we tossed the chickens, do you think they’ll even give you the time of day? Use your brain for once!” the old woman scolded.
She was disgusted by the birds too, but she had no choice; she had already promised.
Maggie, having been yelled at by the old woman, had no choice but to shut her mouth.
The car drove on for a while longer when suddenly, the chicken seemed to pop out of nowhere.
It actually flew right into the backseat in front of Cathy and her mother.
“Ah! What is that?!” Cathy screamed in terror.
“Oh my god, how did this chicken get in here? Wasn't it in the trunk?” Maggie was in total shock.
The two of them scrambled to shoo the chicken away. The dirty thing was flapping around near their clothes. It was absolutely revolting.
“Get away! Get away! Get lost!” Cathy kept swatting at it.
Suddenly, the hen relieved itself right on her skirt.
“What is this?! It’s sticky and it stinks! Ugh!” Cathy looked like she was about to cry.
“It looks like poop!” Maggie said.
“Help! Help me! Stop the car, stop the car! I can’t take this anymore! I can’t stand it!” Cathy was furious.
Nick pulled the car over. Cathy was on the verge of a breakdown.
“There’s so much poop, and it smells awful! What am I supposed to do?! I’m going to kill these chickens!”
Seeing Cathy still making a scene, the old woman grew impatient.
“That’s enough, stop talking. Nick, go find some bags in the car. Bag these chickens up properly. We need to get to your uncle’s house immediately. Do you want to save your father or not?” the old woman ordered.
Even with just a down payment, could the eldest’s family actually afford this?
“Hmph! If you ask me, they’re just putting on a show. Uncle was a General Manager once, after all. He couldn't handle living in that rural place in the northern suburbs, so he probably took out a massive loan to buy a villa just to keep up appearances!” Cathy added.
The old woman didn't respond to her, simply asking, “Nick, are we there?”
“According to the address that woman gave us, it seems to be this one!”
Nick parked the car in front of a massive villa.
There was a large iron gate blocking the entrance. Looking through it, the yard inside looked as big as a public square.
The fountains and Roman columns spoke for themselves. Just the exterior landscaping alone left them dumbfounded.
“Grandma, we didn't get the wrong place, did we? Is this really it?” Cathy asked.
