“Alright then. Just be careful. Corporate politics are different from delivery runs. Watch your back,” Chris advised.
“I know, Chris. Don’t worry!”
Beside them, Jon tugged secretly on Elena’s sleeve.
“Sis,” he whispered, “You pulled some strings for Claire, didn’t you?”
Elena raised an eyebrow. “Excuse me?”
“Don’t look at me like that. It’s LUMEN Studio. People kill to get in there. Claire doesn’t have the degree. Even for an assistant role, it’s a long shot. So, it was you, right?”
Elena felt her cover slipping. She had underestimated Jon; the kid was sharper than he looked. She smacked him lightly on the back of the head. “Focus on your studies and stop meddling.”
Jon pursed his lips, convinced his sister was more than she appeared.
The interaction didn’t escape Dylan, who watched from his wheelchair. He knew LUMEN Studio. It was founded by the mysterious designer 'Aurora,' a legend in the fashion world who never showed her face. For Elena to effortlessly place Claire there meant she had significant pull. Who was she, really? Dylan found the girl to be an enchanting puzzle.

Mr. Holt stepped in to mediate. “Thomas, don’t misunderstand. My wife only means... well, you’ve seen the news. Emily’s reputation is currently in tatters. A wedding now might attract negative press. Better to wait for the storm to pass.”
“The internet is full of slander and lies! Emily is a victim!” Thomas defended his daughter.
Mrs. Holt scoffed internally. *Slander?* She had seen the videos. Emily looked like a vulgar *nouveau riche* brat, screaming at people in public. She was a PR nightmare. If she married into the family now, she’d drag the Holt name into the mud.
“Regardless of the truth, the optics are bad. We should lay low...” Mr. Holt insisted.
Melissa finally snapped.
