Elena calmed Ethan down and had the staff bring him some snacks.
Afterward, she went to visit Mrs. Sinclair.
"Ms. Whelan, you're truly incredible. Just a few words and you got him to quiet down completely. It seems he really only listens to you," Anna remarked in awe.
"Anna, I've already made a deal with him. I'll be coming to see him every weekend from now on, so he shouldn't get overly emotional like that again. Also, you all shouldn't keep locking him up in his room. Take him out for walks more often so he doesn't feel suffocated. After all, he might be an adult, but he has the mind of a three-year-old child!"
"Understood. I'll make sure to remember everything you've said."
Elena walked into Mrs. Sinclair's room and saw that her complexion was indeed quite poor.
"Ma'am, Ms. Whelan is here," Anna announced.
"Elena, I'm so sorry to trouble you to make another trip here."
"Mrs. Sinclair, let me check your pulse and see how your body is holding up."
Elena placed her fingers gently on Scarlett Sinclair's wrist, quickly realizing her health had deteriorated significantly since the last time.
However, to offer some comfort, Elena maintained a reassuring tone. "Mrs. Sinclair, it's nothing major. You just need to get some proper rest. I'll have someone send over some medicine shortly. Take it in the evenings, and you'll feel much better."
"Alright. Thank you so much."
Anna beamed happily. "Ms. Whelan, you are spot on. Ma'am has barely been able to sleep at all these past few nights."
"Anna, that's enough," Scarlett Sinclair gently reprimanded her.
A wave of bitter disappointment washed over Dylan. Was profit truly the only thing that mattered in her heart?
"What gives you the right to dictate my life?" Dylan demanded coldly.
"Excuse me? What gives me the right? I am your mother. You tell me if I have the right!"
Dylan found the situation incredibly ironic. He let out a scoff. "Are you really my mother? Aside from giving birth to me, what have you ever actually given me? When I was little, you never held me once. You never fed me a single meal. You never offered a word of praise. In your eyes, I wasn't even worth as much as a stray dog. Do you have any idea how I've survived all these years?"
"You..." Amber was taken aback. She hadn't expected Dylan to unleash all of this on her.
"What? Can't handle the truth? You constantly claim that I'm your son, but I want to ask you: why are you so biased? Why? Both Patrick and I are your sons, yet you showered him with all your love while entirely ignoring my existence. For the first twenty years of my life, I obeyed your every command, yet I still never received an ounce of your affection. Since that's the reality, why bother trying to control me now?"
"You think I don't love you? That's your own fault for being a disappointment! Defying me over some woman—is this how a proper son acts?" Amber spat furiously.
