"What happened here?" Xavier's stern voice suddenly cut through the tension as he walked down the hallway.
Amber quickly relayed the dramatic scene to him.
"Well, since things have already escalated to this point, we might as well just have him marry Isabella," Xavier declared callously.
Before Xavier could say another word, Dylan cut him off.
"I am not marrying her. Did you not see how wildly she was resisting? She despises me. She clearly has no intention of being my wife."
Xavier leveled a hard stare at Dylan. Surprisingly, he didn't explode in anger. Instead, he said coldly, "Dylan, come with me to the study."
Dylan followed his father in silence.
"What do you want?" Dylan asked, his voice completely devoid of emotion.
"Is that the tone you use when speaking to your father?" Xavier barked.
"What tone would you prefer? Would you like me to fall to my knees and weep with gratitude?"
Xavier's face flushed red with fury. He pointed a trembling finger at his son. "Look at the state of you! Look at what you're wearing! You look no different from the pathetic bottom-feeders on the streets!"
Dylan let out a self-deprecating laugh. "Pathetic? There is no such thing as a lowly profession. Every job requires someone to do it. Is delivering food really that shameful? At least I'm making an honest living, not breaking the law."
"And let's not forget, Dad—before the Sinclair Group was ever founded, you were just a dirty construction worker hauling bricks on a site."
Smack! Xavier slammed his palm violently against the heavy oak desk.
"How dare you speak to me like that! You have become entirely too rebellious lately! Ever since you met that Whelan girl, you've turned into a completely different person!"
"I haven't changed. I've just finally opened my eyes. Before, no matter how much blood, sweat, and tears I gave, I never earned an ounce of love from either of you. Yet I naively held out hope that one day, you would finally see me. Now I know the truth. You despise me, and nothing I do will ever change that!"
"You... you are impossibly stubborn!"
The conversation ended in complete hostility, and Dylan walked out without looking back.

Meanwhile, Amber had pulled Isabella aside into a private room.
"What exactly happened back there? Did he really try to force himself on you?"
Although Amber despised Dylan, she found it incredibly hard to believe that he would ever stoop to assaulting a woman in his own home.
"It's true, Aunt Amber! Just look at this—he even left scratches on me!"
Isabella tugged at her collar, revealing angry red marks near her collarbone.
