Reborn Fake Heiress Watch the Whole Family Burn novel Chapter 718

The scratches were indeed left by Dylan, caused entirely by accident when he had violently ripped her tank top.

Seeing the physical evidence, Amber's lingering doubts vanished.

"I saw the way the two of you looked at each other today. You're practically sworn enemies now. How is he ever going to tolerate you by his side moving forward? I planted you there to earn his trust, and you've completely ruined it!"

"I'm sorry, Aunt Amber! He just doesn't have feelings for me. He was deliberately humiliating me today. He only has eyes for Elena. No matter what I do, it's impossible for us to get along peacefully now," Isabella whimpered pathetically.

"You are entirely useless!" Amber snapped coldly, turning on her heel and leaving the room.

Isabella clenched her fists by her sides, completely consumed by bitter resentment.

-

A dimly lit bar downtown.

Dylan sat alone at a corner booth, knocking back glass after glass of hard liquor.

Learning the brutal truth today had inevitably reopened old, gaping wounds.

The only flicker of warmth he had clung to from his childhood had been a calculated lie.

His own mother would rather believe a lie than trust him.

His own father viewed him as a defective tool.

At this moment, he truly felt like an abandoned orphan with nothing left in the world.

Elena walked into the bustling bar, her gaze scanning the crowd until she spotted Dylan's broad shoulders slouched in the darkest corner.

She had known he would be exactly like this.

On the surface, he acted like none of it bothered him so she wouldn't worry, but underneath, the betrayal had gutted him.

Elena walked over and gently placed her hand over his resting on the table.

Feeling the sudden warmth, Dylan looked up, his heavy gaze locking onto her face.

In an instant, the agonizing pain twisting his insides seemed to ease.

Thank God he still had her.

When all was said and done, she was the only person he had left in the world.

"Did you go see Isabella?" Elena asked softly.

She didn't know them and genuinely didn't care to know their names.

"Wow, you really have a short memory, don't you? Let me remind you. We made a bet in this exact bar not too long ago!"

"I remember the bet," Elena said coldly. "But does that mean we're supposed to be friends?"

Lisa crossed her arms, her eyes flashing with venom. "I don't give a damn if we're friends. Last time we bet, you swore you could land that gorgeous guy. I lost, and I practically had to bow down to you. But I finally figured it out today! I was totally played! You already knew him before that night, didn't you? That's why he didn't push you away when you walked up to him!"

Lisa and her friend had spotted Elena and Dylan earlier and had been secretly watching them for almost an hour.

It was glaringly obvious that the two were intimately acquainted.

Furious at the humiliation of being scammed, Lisa had decided she was going to teach this girl a harsh lesson.

"So what if I did?" Elena scoffed dismissively.

"Oh, you've got some nerve acting so arrogant! You country bumpkin, you dare play me for a fool? If you don't make this right tonight, I promise you won't walk out of here in one piece!"

Lisa's friend tugged nervously at her sleeve. "Lisa, let's just drop it."

"Hell no! Do you know how humiliated I was last time? She's going to pay for that tonight!" Lisa barked, refusing to back down.
