Jane Whelan thought her rapid promotion at the company would normally take years. But she'd heard rumors that Sean Maddox had personally instructed his subordinates to bump her up. That had to mean she was special to him.
Even when Sean lost his temper and no one else dared to enter his office, they always sent her in with the files. They knew that no matter how furious Sean was, he'd never take it out on Jane.
She was convinced she held a unique place in his heart.
"Mr. Maddox, please, you have to save me!" Jane sobbed.
"What is it? Speak quickly. I don't have all day to babysit you," Sean replied coldly.
"I... I ruined Miss Sinclair's dress, and she's demanding compensation. My family will kill me! Mr. Maddox, I'm begging you, help me out. I'm completely out of options!" Jane cried even harder, assuming Sean would feel a pang of sympathy for a damsel in distress.
Instead, his expression remained utterly indifferent. "You made a mistake, so why should I help you? I'm not following your logic, Jane."
To Sean, they had no personal connection. Why was she dumping her problems on him?
"Mr. Maddox, millions of dollars is more than I can handle. My family could afford it, but they'd skin me alive if I went to them! I'm desperate. Please, for the sake of our past connection, help me! If you step in, I know the Sinclair family will give you face, and my relatives won't give me a hard time."
"And what makes you think I'm going to foot the bill for your sheer stupidity?" Sean asked, his voice laced with ice. "Does my money grow on trees? Who are you to me that I should step in? Even if you're my employee, Aurelis Holdings Group has thousands of them. If I bailed everyone out, this wouldn't be a corporation, it'd be a charity."
"I..." Jane was at a loss for words.
She realized she'd already lost her dignity weeping in front of him. With her back against the wall, what else did she have to lose?
Making a split-second decision, she reached for the zipper of her dress and pulled it down. The fabric pooled at her feet, leaving her standing entirely naked in front of him.
"Mr. Maddox... if it helps... I'm willing to be your woman. I'll do anything you want. Please..." Jane bit her lip, her voice trembling with a mix of shame and desperation.
"Holy shit! Did... did I interrupt something?" Bianca gasped, feeling like she had just stumbled onto another planet.
She spun around, ready to bolt.
"Halt. Did I say you could leave? Get in here," Sean commanded sharply.
Bianca froze and awkwardly shuffled into the room.
But the person who felt the most agonizing embarrassment was Jane. She was stuck—she couldn't advance, and she couldn't retreat.
It had been humiliating enough to bare herself for Sean, but having Bianca as an audience was a nightmare.
