"Dad, have you had breakfast?"
"Yes, your mother brought it up for me."
"Let me take a look at your legs," Elena said, lifting the blanket.
Daniel was taken aback. There was no trace of disgust on Elena's face.
Emily, on the other hand, used to complain even when asked to bring him a single meal.
Elena first massaged Daniel's legs, then took out a set of her massage tools.
In truth, the nerve tissues in Daniel's legs were fine. The paralysis was caused by poor blood circulation. Having been bedridden for years, some of his muscles had atrophied or stiffened, which was why he couldn't stand.
"Elena, are you treating your father?" Amanda asked in astonishment as she entered the room.
Her daughter knew massage?
"Yes. I'll give him massage every day. With some medication and physical therapy, Dad should be able to stand again in less than a year," Elena stated calmly.
Amanda and Daniel were overjoyed. Amanda was on the verge of tears.
"If he could really stand again, I would gladly give up ten years of my life!" Amanda said, wiping her eyes.
"It's not that dramatic, Mom, Dad. Don't worry. From now on, I'll support this family," Elena said.
Amanda and Daniel didn't grasp the extent of Elena's capabilities and assumed she was just trying to comfort them.
But they were happy nonetheless.
"Elena is such a thoughtful girl," Amanda marveled.
She couldn't help but compare her to Emily, who had been lazy, impatient, and constantly talked back to them. Emily had refused to even set foot in Daniel's room, unable to stand the sight of her disabled father.
Blood really was thicker than water.

"You... this is outrageous! Get your Sean Maddox out here to see me! Tell him to come out here right now!" Thomas demanded, hands on his hips, fuming.
He remembered how Sean Maddox, the head of Aurelis Holdings, used to be incredibly respectful to him. Even when a project lost money, Maddox wouldn't get angry; he'd clean up the mess himself. He treated Thomas like a king.
Over time, Thomas had grown accustomed to this, believing Maddox was just a dog who depended on his good graces.
"You think you're worthy of seeing Mr. Maddox? Who the hell do you think you are? If you don't leave now, I'm getting the bat!"
Thomas Sterling was furious and tried to push forward.
The guards immediately raised their batons, blocking his path.
Thomas instantly backed down.
"Fine! Just fine! I'll remember you. When I see your Mr. Maddox, I'll make sure he fires every single one of you!"
