Elena had always wondered why Sirius had bothered taking Michelle during that incident. Kidnapping Claire made perfect sense—she was Elena's family, guaranteed bait. But to the outside world, Michelle had no direct connection to Elena.

Elena looked back at Michelle, her voice weak. "You knew the truth the whole time? When we went to your hometown, you purposely left your brother's photo out for me to find, didn't you?"

"Yes! I've known for a long time. You forced my hand. When Sirius first approached me, I refused to help him. I still cared about you, and I loved Tyler. But now? I have nothing left. And you gave all your attention to Bianca Fairchild!"

The night she had run out into the freezing rain, she had wandered the empty streets completely numb, without a soul in sight.

But out of the shadows, two homeless men had spotted her walking alone and dragged her into a secluded alleyway. They violently assaulted her in the mud.

She had screamed until her throat bled, praying Tyler would come save her, but no one came. The sheer terror and absolute helplessness had completely broken her.

In the pouring rain, her will to live had shattered. She had been defiled by the most disgusting scum on the streets.

Sirius shrugged casually. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Michelle, you cannot trust him! He is a manipulative psychopath. He orchestrated everything that happened to you just to turn you into a weapon against me! And your brother? Sirius was the one who killed him! He is your actual enemy!"

"Do you honestly think I believe a word that comes out of your mouth? You and Tyler make me sick. Especially Tyler. He loves you so much. I really wish I could see the look on his face when he finds out you're dead!" Michelle sneered, her eyes dark and completely void of empathy.

Elena realized with a sinking heart that Michelle was too far gone. There was no pulling her back.

After being rejected by Tyler, violated in the streets, and losing her child, the psychological trauma had permanently broken her mind.

Elena forced her chin up. "Michelle, I only owed you for what happened to your brother. No one else owes you anything, certainly not Tyler! But since you're so hell-bent on revenge, I might as well tell you the actual truth."
