Reborn From Ashes novel Chapter 265

"I suppose," Charlotte answered impatiently with a frown.

She wondered if she and Francis got along well. If they did, there was no way he would have deceived her for more than ten years. It was probably just an excuse.

"Back then, when you got married, the wedding gifts probably weren't as expensive as they are now, right? Unlike now, they cost too much. I heard from my classmate that her sister's wedding gifts included 890 thousand dollars and two apartments in the city.

"It's so expensive. It makes me wonder how ordinary people can afford to get married. That said, what did you get at your wedding?" Morgan asked innocently.

"I didn't receive any wedding gifts. My parents didn't agree with my marriage, so no one gave me anything. Why are you asking this?" Charlotte responded coldly.

"It's nothing. I'm just curious. Recently, I saw some news about wedding gifts. Then, what did my grandparents buy for you as a wedding gift?" Morgan asked cautiously.

His eyes flickered as he waited for the response. This was also what he longed to hear.

The next moment, Charlotte's expression darkened, and she said icily, "I didn't receive any gifts from them. Why are you asking this at such a young age? Just focus on your preparation for university. When you become an outstanding person, plenty of nice women will like you. However, if you're like your dad, you'll just end up ruining their lives."

"Oh…" Morgan was completely stunned. He felt that something was off, but he pretended to be confused as he asked, "Mom, what do you mean? Isn't Dad a good guy?"

With a cold expression, Charlotte sneered. She thought that Francis wasn't a good man because he had deceived her for years.

Charlotte cocked her head to the side as she fixed her cold gaze on Morgan's receding figure.

Charlotte sensed that something was off. She wondered why Morgan was asking about her wedding gifts.

She wondered if he wanted to know about the shares given to her by the Peterson family, but she thought that it was impossible for him to know. After all, Francis was the only one who knew, and she had reminded him repeatedly not to tell anyone about it.

Charlotte's expression was cold, and she immediately noticed that something was wrong. Francis had to have told Morgan about the shares, and now they were trying to get their hands on them.

Charlotte grew uneasy and immediately took out her phone to call Julia and Anna over. If her suspicions were correct, then it wasn't a good thing.
