**TITLE: Whispers Shape Distant Tomorrows by Aren Cole Vale**
As Tewa listened to the dismissive tone in Raul’s voice, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of frustration. “Tunderstand,” she replied, her voice barely concealing her irritation.
Teva, on the other hand, felt an icy chill settle in her heart, yet she maintained a facade of sweetness. With a gentle smile, she remarked, “Even if Margaery does not harbor any fondness for me, I still wish her well.”
There was a flicker of genuine happiness within her as she observed the Hadley family’s grandmother and aunt treating her with kindness, alongside Dominic’s evident concern for her. It warmed her heart to see that, despite the tension, there were those who genuinely cared for her well-being.
“She is not worthy,” Raul interjected, barely able to contain his anger. Watching Teva’s continued efforts to accommodate Margaery only fueled his frustration. “From this moment forward, you need not concern yourself with her.”
“Yes, I will heed your words,” Teva replied, a faint smile playing on her lips, though her thoughts were far darker. She pondered, Whether she is worthy or not, when all of this collapses, Margaery should not even dare to dream of what I cannot possess. In her mind, she envisioned a future where even the Wallin family members would meet their end by her hand.
At that moment, Tessa Wallin narrowed her eyes slightly, her breath hitching as she observed Kaul, whose expression had turned ominous. He quickly followed the Hadley family members, a sense of foreboding hanging in the air.
Joshua, striding toward Kaul, couldn’t help but voice his frustration. “What sort of behavior is this? After all, you are the current Chancellor! The Hadley family should be rallying around you, not…”
“Silence!” Raul snapped, cutting him off. “These matters of great importance should not be sullied by trifles!”
Joshua felt a swell of indignation rise within him, but he was aware of Marcus’s faction’s plans, which tethered him to Raul’s side, even if it meant wearing a mask of cold compliance.
As they approached the town hall, the atmosphere shifted, and Margaery’s realization struck her like a bolt of lightning: the seats were already filled with guests.
Among the crowd, Margaery spotted Phillips and Chastina. As she drew closer, their eyes lit up with recognition, but out of respect for the hosts, one of them spoke first.
Margaery exchanged a glance with Phillipa, who nodded slightly. A sigh of relief escaped Margaery as she recognized that the Artsen family was present, a familiar comfort amidst the sea of strangers.
However, as soon as Sophia and Dominic ushered her into the hall, murmurs of discussion rippled through the crowd.
“It seems the Hadley family truly adores this daughter-in-law! She hasn’t even tied the knot yet, and look how they embrace her as one of their own!” someone whispered, eyes glinting with intrigue. “Just look at Lady Sophia’s radiant smile! Even the stars in the night sky would envy her!”
“If I were in her shoes, I would feel elated as well. What does it mean to be the Star of Fortune?” another voice chimed in, curiosity piqued.
Sommar scoffed. “To have reached this point, everyone here is a master at acting. They certainly know how to put on a show.”
“That may be true, but why did Tessa come as well?” Upon spotting Tessa at the back, the expressions around her shifted to something strange, a mix of confusion and disapproval.
“After what happened with her brother-in-law, she still dares to attend an event like this? It’s baffling!” someone murmured. “Even now, her father still holds her hand like she’s a little girl.”
The crowd exchanged glances, their eyes narrowing. “Lady Tewa is just a child. Everyone should be cautious; she’s holding hands with one person today and another tomorrow.”
Laughter erupted from the group, but it was tinged with scorn. Tessa was already seen as an adult at fifteen, a fact that made her father’s behavior seem all the more peculiar.
In Sinderin City, it was rare for fathers and brothers to maintain such physical contact with their daughters once they reached a certain age. Raul’s actions, therefore, stood out starkly against societal norms.
