"Aren’t you already calling me Mom?" Mrs. Fu said. "What’s there to thank me for? Hurry up and eat before the noodles get soggy."
"Okay." Qin Wenhao immediately dug in.
’I have to say, my mother-in-law’s noodles are pretty delicious.’
Just then, Fu Mingxue came out of the shower.
"Mom, why aren’t you in bed yet? You can just leave the bowl and wash it tomorrow."
Hearing this, Qin Wenhao quickly chimed in, "Mom, you should go to bed. I’ll wash the bowl in a bit."
Mrs. Fu had been about to ask how long it could possibly take to wash one bowl.
But then she saw that the young couple hadn’t seen each other in a long time.
So, she changed her tune. "Alright then, I’m off to bed. You two should get some sleep soon, too. Don’t worry about the bowl, just leave it there."
With that, she returned to her room.
Her departure left the young husband and wife all alone.
Qin Wenhao looked at Fu Mingxue. "Do you want some?"
"No, thanks. I’m her actual daughter; if I wanted some, don’t you think she would have made it for me? I already ate at the cafeteria. They serve a late-night meal, so I told Mom beforehand."
She then added quickly, "Take your time. I’m going back to the room."
And with that, she left.
It wasn’t until she was inside the room that a thought occurred to her—where was he going to sleep tonight?
’He’s not going to sleep with me, is he?’
The moment the question popped into her head, she began to feel completely overwhelmed.
’I... I... I... I’ve never slept with a man in either of my two lifetimes!’
’What do I do now?’
A wave of panic washed over her. Now, she couldn’t even focus on her book.
She remained in this state for she-didn’t-know-how-long, right up until Qin Wenhao entered the room.
His gaze was deep as he looked at Fu Mingxue. "Were you sitting here waiting for me?"
Fu Mingxue nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard his voice.
"Wh-who’s waiting for you! I-I was just thinking about my work today. I have to summarize my work every day when I get home... Yes, that’s it—"
