She walked out of the living room, heading up the stairs toward her bedroom to process what I had just dropped on her.

Once she was out of sight, I turned toward the doorway and called out to the other security guard stationed outside in the hall. "Bring Nysa in."

The guard nodded, stepping back out, and a moment later I heard boots shuffling and Nysa's muffled protests. I stood up from the couch, kicked my heels off so my feet could hit the floor comfortably, and waited.

The guards dragged Nysa into the room, shoving her forward until she stumbled. I looked at the two men standing by the door. "Leave us alone. Make sure no one comes in." I said. They gave a quick nod, backed out of the room, and pulled the heavy doors shut behind them, leaving just the two of us standing there in the quiet space. The second the doors clicked shut, Nysa lunged at me like a wild animal, her fingernails clawing at the air.

I waited for her to get close, shifted my weight, and gave her a precise kick straight to her stomach. All the combat training I had pushed myself through finally paid off. Nysa let out a sharp gasp, the air exploding out of her lungs as she stumbled backward. Before she could catch her balance, I moved forward, grabbed a fistful of her long hair, and dragged her across the room toward the couch, throwing her down onto the floor.

I didn't hold back. I rained down a series of calculated, brutal strikes, hitting her in all the right spots, the ribs, the soft tissue of her midsection, and right behind her knees delivering maximum, agonizing pain without leaving a single visible mark or bruise for anyone to ask questions about.

When I finally finished, Nysa was curled up on the floor, unable to move, gasping for air and looking up at me with pure, unadulterated rage in her tear-filled eyes. I calmly walked back over, sat down on the couch, and looked down at her shivering form.

"Do you know why I'm better than you?" I asked quietly, resting my chin on my hand. "It's because I'm me. You rely on the Vexari family name for everything you have. Every single piece of clothes, every cent you spend, belongs to our father, while I work for mine."

Nysa just choked out a pathetic sound, her chest heaving as she glared up at me like she wanted to murder me on the spot. I turned my head toward the doorway and raised my voice. "Come in."

The security guard pushed the door open and stepped back into the room.

"Help her onto the chair," I ordered. The guard walked over, grabbed Nysa by her arms, and hoisted her up, dragging her across the room and dumping her unceremoniously onto the couch across from me.

Nysa slumped against the cushions, clutching her stomach, her eyes burning with hatred as she glared at me. I let out a soft, amused smile and leaned back against the cushions, keeping my eyes locked on Nysa’s furious, sweat-slicked face.

"You didn't actually believe you could win against me, did you?" I asked, my voice light and steady. "Don't you understand what is happening right now? The past two weeks must have been horrible for you. Sitting up in this big, empty house while your friends ignore your calls and don't answer any of your text messages."

"Shut up!" Nysa yelled, her voice cracking as she tried to lunge forward again, only to groan and clutch her ribs from the pain of the hidden hits.

I let out a low laugh, shaking my head. "Now, here is how it's going to go. You're going to try to make some desperate comeback, but you won't. As it stands, father doesn't want to be seen with you in public anymore, so you'll be locked away at home and I know you, Nysa. You won't give up. You'll try any means necessary to hurt me, and you'll fail every single time because my husband is always watching me, and his godfather is always watching me."
