I walked out the front doors of the estate with Dario by my side, watching as Caroline and Nysa were hauled away by the security detail. They kept screaming, yelling, and trying to kick, but it was useless. The guards dragged them all the way down the long drive, tossed them unceremoniously onto the sidewalk just outside the entrance, and pulled the heavy gates shut, locking them out for good.

Caroline grabbed the bars of the gates, her face was purple with rage as she started screaming, "You can't do this to me! I am the woman of this house!"

Dario glanced down at me, a calm, easy look on his face. "Let's go, kitten."

We got into the car, and the driver started the car and drove down the driveway toward the gates. As the car got through the gates , Nysa tried to throw herself right in front of the hood to block our path. The driver didn't even slow down, leaning on the horn and shouting, "Move or I'll run you over!"

Nysa scrambled backward out of the way just in time. As we drove away, I knew deep down this wouldn't be the last we saw of them. Desperate people always tried anything, but they were out of ammunition. Instead of going straight home, I had the driver head over to Cipher Core. On the way, I pulled out my phone and called Carlton. He answered on the first ring.

"Hello?"

"Grandfather," I said, leaning back against the leather seat. "Caroline is calling you, I assume?"

Carlton let out a cold huff. "She is, but I already told building security not to let her or Nysa anywhere near the offices. She'll probably go to her parents next." he said.

"She can try," I said smoothly, "but they aren't there. I already dealt with Alden and Lorraine. They left the area and won't ever return."

"Good," Carlton said. "I would have felt some sympathy for them, but I feel nothing. Knowing they both lied straight to my face, not just about sending you away, but about who you really were, I've had enough. They can try to cause all the trouble they want, but they won't succeed."

"I have security watching them," I assured him. "I'll know every move they make. Why don't you come over this weekend for dinner?"

"I need to deal with the house first," he said tiredly.

"I already told the servants to clean everything up," I said. "They're packing all of their remaining personal belongings into trash bags as we speak. Why don’t you come over to the house and join us for dinner this weekend"

Carlton paused, a quiet sigh escaping him. "All right. Let me know what day and time, and I'll be there." he said.

"Okay." I ended the call and tossed my phone onto the seat.

When I got to Cipher Core, I dove straight into work. I called Leo and Chloe via video call to check in and make sure every thing was locked down tight after everything that had gone down. By afternoon, I had a heavy international meeting via video conference, but my camera stayed off. I still didn't want people in the global tech space knowing that the mastermind running Cipher Core was an eighteen-year-old newlywed.

By the time my workday finally wrapped up, exhaustion settled deep into my bones. I walked out of the tower into the cool evening air, stopping when I saw Dario waiting by the car. He opened the passenger door for me, and I slid inside, letting out a long breath. He climbed in right after me.

"You look tired," he said, his eyes softening as he looked at me.

"I am," I admitted, resting my head back against the headrest.

He shifted closer, gently lifted my feet onto his lap, and began to massage my tired calves through my clothes. I let out a long, contented sigh, melting into the seat as the tension bled out of my muscles.

Suddenly, my phone started ringing, I pulled it ut of my pocket. I checked the screen and saw Jax's name flashing. I swiped to answer. "Hello?"
