REBORN My Second Life I Became The Villianess novel Nysa and Dario Valteri Chapter 61

I gave her hair one final, sharp jerk before letting go completely. She collapsed onto the concrete, gasping for air and clutching her scalp with both hands looking defeated.

I stepped back, looking down at her crumpled body with disgust. I didn't feel a single ounce of pity or sympathy for her. She had made her bed by treating me like trash for years, and now she was going to lie in the dirt where she belonged. "Don't ever show up at my home again," I said.

I didn’t wait for her to answer, I turned my back on her and walked away from the steps, my head held high and my shoulders relaxed. I didn't look back once. I pushed the front door open, walked back inside house, and made my way straight back to the dining room to finish my dinner.

When I sat back in my chair, the family barely skipped a beat. Plates clinked softly against silverware, and the soft hum of conversation filled the air. Dario looked up from his plate, his eyes locking onto mine with a steady, knowing intensity. A small, amused smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.

"Is she gone?" he asked quietly, his voice deep and smooth. I picked up my fork and took a calm, deliberate bite of food before looking back at him. "Yes," I said quietly.

He just nodded, looking unbothered, as if kicking my unhinged sister off the property was no different than swatting away a pesky fly. The rest of dinner continued without any more interruptions. The family went right back to talking about wedding schedules and menu options, and I played my part, smiling and nodding along while my mind was already shifting gears toward the next phase of my plan.

By the time dinner ended and I finally escaped back to the quiet sanctuary of my bedroom, the heavy weight of the day settled over my shoulders. But I didn't want to sleep, I had work to do.

I pulled out my phone, opening up the messaging app that nobody else had access to. I typed out a quick message to Jax.

Jax was my private security head, my personal right-hand man when it came to the dirtier side of my life outside the family. He handled things for me quietly, efficiently, and without asking stupid questions.

Meet me at the company office tomorrow morning, I typed, hitting send.

The reply came back almost instantly: Understood, boss. I'll be waiting.

I locked my phone, tossed it onto the nightstand, and finally got ready for bed, letting the exhaustion take over.

The next morning, the house was moving at ten times its normal speed. The staff was bustling around the hallways, carrying extra linens, polishing silver, and shouting instructions back and forth across the floors. Everyone was running around in a full-blown panic preparing for the arrival of Dario's godfather later that day.

I walked down the staircase and headed to the dinning room for breakfast, I noticed right away that the seat next to mine was empty. Dario wasn't at the table. One of the guards mentioned he had already left early to handle some urgent business at the main headquarters before his godfather arrived.

I sat down, ate a light breakfast, and made my rounds before heading out. I leaned down to press a soft kiss to Grandmother’s cheek, hugged Mom goodbye as she babbled excitedly about flower arrangements, and grabbed my coat.

"I'm heading out to work" I announced, grabbing my bag. Vincenzo looked up from his newspaper, giving me a warm, approving nod, while Grandmother waved a hand dismissively, telling me not to work too hard.

I slipped out of the house and got into my car, driving straight down into the heart of the city.

When I walked through the elevator doors onto my floor, Jax was already standing there waiting by my office door. He was tall, dressed in a sharp, dark suit, with a expressionless face that missed nothing.

I walked past him, unlocked my office, and motioned for him to follow me inside. I dropped my bag on the desk, pulled out my chair, and took a seat. I folded my hands on the wood, looking up at him with cold, calculating eyes.

"I need you to do two things for me starting today," I said, my voice dropping into a sharp, commanding tone.
