REBORN My Second Life I Became The Villianess novel Nysa and Dario Valteri Chapter 64
My head was spinning so fast I thought I was going to throw up. Nothing made sense. The timeline was broken. Either Nysa was lying about her age, which was impossible because I knew her my entire childhood , her birth certificate, or Pedro was lying, or something even more twisted and hidden was lurking beneath the surface of my family's dark history.
"That's insane," I breathed out, my chest heaving as I struggled to pull in enough air. "She was twelve years old eighteen years ago!"
"I am telling you the truth," Pedro insisted, his voice rising in frustration. "I would know her face anywhere. The dark hair, the sharp eyes, the way she smiled."
Panic surged through me. I hurriedly dug my phone out of my pocket, my fingers shaking as they flew across the screen as I unlocked it. I frantically scrolled through my photo gallery, bypassing work files, Cipher Core security logs, and old childhood pictures until I found what I was looking for.
It was a picture of Nysa , it had been taken last year at a family dinner, a clear, high-resolution shot of her face, sneering at the camera with her dark hair swept back. I stepped forward and shoved the screen right into Pedro’s face.
"Do you know her?" I demanded, my voice sharp. "Is this the woman?"
Pedro leaned back, his eyes dropping to the phone screen. He stared at it for three agonizing seconds, his breath hitching in his throat. Then, the color drained completely from his face, leaving him looking like a corpse.
"Yes," Pedro whispered, his voice trembling as he pointed a shaky finger at the screen. "This is Nysa. This is the exact woman I spent that night with."
Across the room, Ella let out a loud, terrified gasp, clapping both hands over her mouth. Bianca froze, her eyes widening in absolute horror as the implications of what Pedro had just said crashed over everyone in the room like a tidal wave.
Elena stood up so fast her chair screeched loudly against the floor. Dario didn't say a single word. He was looking at me, his dark eyes burning with a terrifying, protective intensity, but his jaw was locked so tight I could see the muscle ticking in his cheek.
Amidst the absolute chaos of shouting, gasps, and spinning rooms, Grandmother stood up from the settee. Her voice cut through the noise like a sharp blade, calm, commanding, and absolute.
"Enough," Grandmother ordered, her sharp eyes sweeping over everyone in the room. She looked straight at Dario. "We are wasting time arguing over impossible timelines and ghost stories. Let's get a DNA test done right now. Tonight."
My head began to spin faster, the walls of the living room tilting dangerously. The horrifying realization of what my life actually was, a lie built on top of a lie crushed down on my chest with the weight of a falling mountain.
My knees buckled and the last thing I saw, right before darkness swallowed me whole, was the floor coming up way too fast to meet my face.
Dario’s POV
The second her knees buckled, time seemed to slow down to a crawl. I saw her swaying, her eyes rolling back as her body tilted forward toward the floor.
"Nyx!" Ella shrieked, lunging forward.
I didn't even think. I pushed off the floor with everything I had, crossing the space in a single heartbeat. I dove down, my arms wrapping around her waist and catching her dead weight just inches before her face slammed into the ground. I pulled her against my chest, my heart was beating hard and fast.
I looked down at her pale, unconscious face then chaos erupted.
"Oh, my god, is she breathing?" My mother cried out, rushing over with her hands hovering uselessly in the air and panic written all over her face.
