REBORN My Second Life I Became The Villianess novel Nysa and Dario Valteri Chapter 65

Twenty minutes later, heavy footsteps echoed from the hallway, and the doors pushed open. Our family’s trusted physician hurried into the room, carrying a black medical bag with a look of urgent professionalism stamped across his face.

My mother immediately intercepted him, leading the doctor quickly over to the couch where Nyxara was still passed out.

"She just collapsed," Mom explained in a hushed, frantic whisper, gesturing toward her. "Don't wake her up unless you have to, just check her vitals and make sure she is going to be okay. Oh, and we also need you to run a DNA swab while you're at it."

The doctor gave a calm, reassuring nod. "Understood. Let me take a look."

He knelt beside the sofa, opening his kit with practiced efficiency. He pulled out a stethoscope, pressing it gently against her chest to listen to her heart, checked her pulse, and lifted her eyelids to check her pupils. After confirming she was just suffering from pure physical and mental exhaustion, he pulled out a sterile needle and carefully drew a small vial of blood from her arm.

I stepped forward, pulling a sterile cotton swab from his offered box. Without hesitating, I leaned down, gently parting her lips to swipe the inside of her cheek to collect a tissue sample, making sure not to wake her up.

Once he finished with Nyxara, the doctor turned his attention to Pedro, taking another swab to secure a direct sample from the older man for the comparison.

My father stepped in, leaning down close to the doctor and lowering his voice into a stern, absolute command. "Listen to me carefully Rudolph," my father instructed, his eyes locking onto the physician. "You are going to rush this DNA test. I want the results expedited to the highest tier possible by tonight. And not a single soul outside of this room can know about this. Understood?" he said,

The doctor clutched the sample kit tightly to his chest and nodded firmly. "Absolute discretion. I'll personally run the panel at the confidential lab. You'll have your answers soon." he said.

With that, the doctor packed up his gear and hurried out of the room, his footsteps fading away down the hallway. Barely twenty minutes after he left, the front doors swung open again.

Heavy, deliberate footsteps announced the arrival of Pascal. Pascal was Pedro’s younger brother, a man built like a tank with cold, sharp eyes that missed absolutely nothing. He strode into the living room, nodding briefly to acknowledge everyone present before walking straight over to his brother.

Then, Pascal stopped dead in his tracks. His eyes drifted past Pedro and landed on the figure of Nyxara resting quietly on the sofa. Pascal froze, the color draining from his face as he stared at her features. He looked like he was staring straight at a ghost from twenty years ago.

Pascal swallowed hard, his voice dropping into a shaky whisper as he turned his head to look at his brother. "Pedro... is that…"

"Yes," Pedro interrupted quietly, cutting him off with a heavy nod. "She just collapsed. We are waiting on the results now."

Pascal didn't waste a single second of hesitation. He immediately pulled his phone out of his coat pocket, his thumb moving at lightning speed as he hit speed dial and started barking orders into the device, setting his own network of investigators into motion.

Ten minutes later, the front entrance doors opened once more. Three burly, tactical-gear-wearing operatives walked into the room, moving with the silent, deadly efficiency of professional hounds on a scent.

Pedro pointed a finger toward the study doors, looking at his men. "Dig into everything on her. I want hospital records, birth registries, financial trails, school files, and every single digital footprint connected to the Vexari household from eighteen years ago. Leave no stone unturned."

"Sir, yes, sir," the lead operative barked, turning on his heel and heading straight into the study to set up their mobile terminals. I stood up from the edge of the sofa, pulling out my own phone. I dialed a direct, encrypted number, waiting through two rings before a deep, gravelly voice answered on the other end.

"Julian," I said, my voice cutting through the noise of the room like a blade.

"Boss," Julian responded instantly, his tone sharp. "What do you need?"
