REBORN My Second Life I Became The Villianess novel Nysa and Dario Valteri Chapter 80
The ride back to the Valteri estate took less than twenty minutes. The security detail parked right outside the main door, and I hopped out before the guys could even reach for the door handle. I pushed my way inside, kicking off my shoes by the front door, and headed straight toward the main living area.
I could hear them arguing before I even turned the corner. Elena's voice was sharp, cutting through the quiet of the house. "I am telling you, the midnight blue is too dark for the reception hall. It makes everything look like a mob summit instead of a wedding."
"Midnight blue is classic," Grandmother shot back, sounding unbothered. "It sets the tone. We want people to know the family isn't playing around."
I walked into the room, shoving my hands into my pockets. They were sitting at the long table surrounded by a literal mountain of thick, glossy paper, fabric swatches, and heavy ring binders. Elena looked up first, her eyes locking onto me with a look of pure urgency.
"Nyxara," she said, pointing a gold pen right at my chest. "Thank god. Come over here and settle this right now."
I walked over and dropped onto the sofa next to them, looking down at the disaster zone spread out across the table. "What's going on Mom?"
"We are planning your wedding," Grandmother said, adjusting her glasses as she flipped a page in a massive binder. "And your future mother-in-law here refuses to understand that subtlety is wasted on people who already want to cross us."
I let out a slow breath, leaning back against the cushions. "Okay."
"Just okay?" Elena asked, staring at me like I had grown a second head. "This is your wedding. You have to care at least a little bit. Do you want the ceremony in the courtyard or the glass pavilion? Do you want string quartets or a live jazz band? What about the flowers?" she asked.
I shrugged, feeling completely relaxed. "Honestly? Anything is good. I'm not really fussy about the details. Whatever you guys want to do is fine by me." I said.
Elena threw her hands up, dropping the pen onto the table. "Sweetheart be realistic. Every bride has opinions, you may not prefer anything at the exact moment but when they day reaches, you’ll have opinions." she said.
"I have opinions about other things," I pointed out, offering her an easy grin. "Just not napkin colors."
Before she could argue back, a deep voice cut in from the far corner of the room. My dad was sitting in a heavy leather armchair near the window, nursing a cup of black coffee and watching the whole exchange with a calm, steady look in his eyes.
"It needs to be grand," Pedro said, his voice carrying easily across the space. "After all, you are the Cruz heiress, and everyone needs to know it."
I winced a little bit, dropping my head back against the sofa. "Dad. Can we not turn my wedding into a political summit to flex on business rivals?"
"It is not a flex," Pedro said, his expression deadpan. "It is a fact. The bloodline matters. People need to be reminded who you belong to."
Before I could fire back, Grandfather chimed in from where he was standing by the bookshelf. He crossed his arms over his chest, looking down at me with a thoughtful look.
"Speaking of family matters," Grandfather said. "When do you plan to tell Carlton?"
The room went a little quiet. The easy, teasing vibe in the air flattened out.
