But from the very beginning, she had been determined to raise her children on her own and had never considered starting a new relationship.

Miss Warner said he makes over a thousand dollars a year. His business has stores all over the country! If he actually takes a fancy to you, it would be a blessing, don’t you get it?"

"Whoever wants that blessing can have it. I’m not interested in his money!"

Thinking of her daughter, Jasmine Sterling’s confidence swelled.

Matriarch Sterling snorted. "Say whatever you want, but you are going to meet him. He’s usually very busy, but he happens to be in Veridia on business today and is only free tonight. Miss Warner is already on her way to your place with the man. You’d better hurry up and get yourself ready."

Jasmine Sterling was shocked. "Mom! How could you just arrange this without asking me first? Besides, it’s already eight o’clock at night! Who has a blind date show up at their door at eight PM? Can you please stop causing trouble for me?"

"How is this causing trouble? I’m doing this for your own good! I’m hanging up. Get yourself ready!"

Matriarch Sterling hung up as soon as she finished, giving Jasmine Sterling no chance to reply.

Jasmine Sterling let her arm fall limply to her side, feeling completely exasperated.

She got up and pulled open the door, only to find her daughter standing right outside. Jasmine Sterling’s expression shifted, and she forced a smile. "Are you finished eating? Was it good?"

"Mom, I heard everything. Did Grandma set you up on another blind date?" Cecilia asked, getting straight to the point.

She wasn’t a child anymore. Her mother could share her worries and frustrations with her instead of shouldering everything on her own.

"Mom, if you find someone suitable, you should give it a try. My brother and I wouldn’t be against it."

"I don’t want to!" Jasmine Sterling sighed. "The man will be here any minute. I’ll just deal with it quickly and send him away. You kids go to your room first."

The words had barely left her mouth when a knock came at the door. Jasmine Sterling quickly shot her daughter a look and went to open it herself.

When the door opened, Randall Jennings was standing outside, tall and sharp in a suit and carrying an elegantly wrapped gift.
