Randall Jennings had been utterly confused by Jasmine Sterling’s words and actions, but now everything was clear.
He smiled. "Today is the 30th!"
"Huh?" Jasmine was taken aback again. She picked up her phone to check the date and, seeing that it was indeed the 30th, couldn’t help but give a resigned smile.
’Since I’m not working, I’ve even lost track of the days.’
She opened the door and stepped aside. "Mr. Jennings, please, come in."
Randall Jennings nodded and said politely, "Sorry to intrude."
"You can keep your shoes on. I’m about to clean up anyway."
After entering, Randall Jennings instinctively glanced around the room.
The small space was neat and bright, exuding a cozy, familial warmth.
Jasmine poured a glass of water and placed it on the table, then said in an apologetic tone, "I’m sorry you had to see that just now, Mr. Jennings. Please, have a seat and drink some water."
"It’s no problem. Ms. Sterling, you have a blind date soon, don’t you? Did I come at a bad time?"
"Oh, not at all. It’s just something my mom set up on a whim. I was just planning to go through the motions, so please don’t mind it. I’m the one who should feel bad, you made a special trip all the way from Lorcain."
Randall Jennings smiled at her words. He looked at Jasmine and said gratefully, "You saved my life. I absolutely had to come and thank you in person."
As he spoke, Randall Jennings gently placed the gift he had prepared on the table. He looked at Jasmine and said solemnly, "Thank you for everything you did to save me. If there’s anything you need my help with in the future, please don’t hesitate to ask."
"No, no, that’s not necessary." Jasmine was a bit flustered. She had worked at a five-star hotel for many years and had seen her fair share of successful people. Her first impression of Mr. Jennings was that he was a powerful man, someone accustomed to being in charge.
What surprised Jasmine was that a powerful man like Randall Jennings could also have such a sincere side.
She was used to their air of superiority, which made Randall Jennings’s sincerity seem all the more precious.
"I’ll accept this gift, and I accept your thanks. Let’s just leave it at that. From now on, you should be more careful. Watch what you eat, and don’t let yourself get into that kind of danger again."
Randall Jennings smiled and nodded. "You’re right. If it happens again, I might not be so lucky as to run into you. I’ll be careful."
Cecilia and Ethan had been listening at the door for a while, and something felt off.
"Sis, I don’t think he’s here for the blind date."
