Chapter 90: Chapter 88: It’s Not Certain Who’s Playing Who

After Estelle briefly introduced her friends to Cecilia, she pulled Cecilia over to a mountain of clothes with a troubled look on her face. "We’re totally overwhelmed. You have to help me pick something."

Cecilia had never even seen a wealthy heiress with so many clothes in movies or TV shows, and she was quite taken aback. Many of the garments still had their tags on, clearly brand new.

"Don’t you usually have strong opinions about what you wear? Why are you so indecisive today?" Cecilia asked casually.

She didn’t realize her words had made Estelle’s pretty face flush slightly. The girl pursed her lips, looking as if she wanted to say something but couldn’t.

The other girls all exchanged knowing, suggestive looks. One of them said, "Looks like Cecilia doesn’t know our Estelle’s heart already belongs to someone."

Another chimed in, "You don’t know, Cecilia, but Estelle’s crush is coming tonight."

Those few words were enough to make Estelle bury her head in the pile of clothes in embarrassment. "Ah, stop it, you guys."

Cecilia was very surprised. She had never heard Estelle mention having a secret crush.

Seeing Estelle’s rare, bashful display, Cecilia pulled her up. "Really?"

Estelle nodded shyly, then grabbed Cecilia’s hand and began to fidget, swaying back and forth. "Help me pick something. Hurry."

Cecilia understood that Estelle wanted to look her best for her crush, so she earnestly took on the role of her advisor.

In the end, they chose a short, white evening dress.

"You’re already so slim. A dark color would make you look even thinner, to the point of being too bony. It wouldn’t be flattering," Cecilia explained.

Estelle nodded in agreement, thinking Cecilia’s words made a lot of sense.

Cecilia added, "It’ll be dark soon. White is more eye-catching at night. It’ll be hard for him not to notice you!"

Hearing this, Estelle gave a look of feigned annoyance, snatched the evening dress from Cecilia’s hands, and trotted into the walk-in closet.

The other girls couldn’t help but smile at the scene.

Once Estelle was ready, the group of girls emerged from the villa together, a stunning sight to behold. They were all radiant and brimming with youthful energy, yet each had her own distinct charm.

The most eye-catching of them all were Cecilia in a black gown and Estelle in a white dress.

Everyone present turned to look at them. The elders’ eyes held delighted appreciation, while the gazes from their peers were more direct and undisguised, especially from the rich young men seeing Cecilia for the first time.

"Wow, she’s gorgeous. Jonah, do you know her? A friend of your cousin’s?"

On the lawn, a group of close male friends were gathered. Their leader was Estelle’s cousin, Jonah Goodman, one of Lorcain’s most famous wealthy bachelors.

Jonah Goodman stared at Cecilia’s radiant, fair figure, momentarily captivated. At his friend’s question, he just shook his head and murmured, "Never seen her before..."

As he spoke, he was already striding quickly toward the group of girls.

His companions exchanged glances, then broke into knowing smiles.

"Estelle!"

The girls had just grabbed some cocktails and were happily chatting when Jonah Goodman cut in at an inopportune moment.

He called Estelle’s name, but his eyes were glued to Cecilia.

Aside from Cecilia, the other girls clearly knew Jonah. Seeing him approach, they all subconsciously took a couple of steps back. They were all from families that moved in the same circles, and the scandalous rumors about Jonah were common knowledge among them.

This left Cecilia standing closest to him.
