Chapter 83
Violet was tempted. With one song, she could make up the remaining money.
But she refused. “Can I not go?”
Henry paused, then said, ‘Of course you can. It’s your choice. The customer just told me about it, and I can’t deny you the right to earn money, so I had to tell you. I’m not saying you have to go.”
“Thank you.” Violet smiled. “I’m a bit tired today. I’d like to go back and rest.”
For this price, that person surely wanted her to do more than sing.
Henry smiled. “Alright.”
Violet said goodbye to Henry, went to the break room to change her clothes, and left.
Just as she came out of the break room, a middle–aged man in a black suit stopped her.
“Hey, beautiful!”
She was startled by the man, who reeked of nouveau riche–big gold chain paired with a Rolex watch, his black suit unable to contain his pot belly, his fat
face plastered with a greasy smile.
Violet instinctively frowned. “Who are you? I don’t know you.”
“Who am I? I’m Jesse Turner. Ever heard of Vanguard Enterprises Group? That’s my company. Jesse grinned with his yellowed teeth, looking at Violet with a smirk. “Violet, I come to hear you sing all the time. Your voice is beautiful, and so are you…”
“Thanks for your support, but I have things to do. I need to leave now, Violet gave a perfunctory response and turned to leave.
‘Violet, I asked you to sing for me just now. Why did you refuse? You work so hard singing on stage–why not come sing in my private room? I’ve got a lot
of money…”
Jesse looked at Violet’s stunning face with flashes of greed and lust in his eyes.
“I’m not singing anymore today. I need to go back.” Violet finished speaking and turned to leave.
“Violet, don’t go!”
He reached out to grab her.
‘Don’t touch me!
She screamed instinctively, pushed him and turned to run.
“Don’t go, Violet! How about today you… Before he could finish speaking, a girl in a stellar High School uniform walked in front of him and blocked his path.
‘Don’t try to chase after her. Do you know what you just did constitutes sexual harassment? If I call the police right now, things won’t end well for you.”

Isabella stood there, phone in hand, her cold eyes fixed on Jesse.
Jesse’s expression changed.
“Where did you come from? Mind your own business!
“How is this not my business?‘ Isabella frowned, saying coldly, “I’m her Chapter 82
Isabella returned to school and went to dorm 602, but Violet was nowhere to be found.
All she learned from Scarlett was that Violet was probably out with Charles and hadn’t yet returned.
Isabella had no choice but to return to dorm 701.
All along, she thought that by reporting Violet, she could stop her from singing at the bar. Even now, she still believed that.
However, it was a fact that she’d underestimated Violet’s grit and determination.
It was nearly eleven when someone started banging on her dorm door. When she opened it, Scarlett stood there, pale and shaking.
Isabella, has Violet come to see you? I think she’s missing!”
Isabella looked up at Scarlett, confused. “Wasn’t she still in class this afternoon?”
“But she’s been out of contact for the past few hours!” Scarlett said, “After school, Violet went to the bar, but she still hasn’t come back. She isn’t answering her phone either. Since Violet left campus without permission, I don’t dare tell the teachers, so I came to ask you–do you know where she is?‘
Isabella was surprised. “You’re saying Violet went to a bar? How is that possible? Hasn’t she already…”
Scarlett shook her head anxiously. “No, actually after you reported her last time, Violet didn’t give up on working at the bar. She found another bar far from school to sing at. Everyone in the dorm knows about it, but Violet told us not to tell anyone, so I didn’t dare tell you.
“And normally Violet comes back around ten every day, no later than eleven at the latest, but it’s almost midnight now and she’s still not back!”
Isabella listened to Scarlett’s words, frowning deeply. “Where is this bar?”
Scarlett quickly gave her the address.
Isabella got up and headed out.
Scarlett chased after her. “Isabella, where are you going?”
“To find her, of course.”
!
“But… Scarlett wanted to say something, but seeing Isabella’s quick pace, she gritted her teeth. ‘Isabella, wait for me, I’m coming with you!
On a weekend night, neon lights flickered in the city center.
Inside D.K. Bar, the scene was lively.
Violet sat on a high stool in the corner, microphone in hand, singing a melodious and cheerful tune.
She sounded captivating as her voice echoed through the hall, causing people who passed by to look at her.

Chapter 82

Violet had been performing here for almost half a month. Each time, she came and sang for two hours and would leave at nine o’clock, but today the bar was
hosting an event, so she had to sing until the early morning. However, her hourly rate would be triple the usual amount.
The income for singers here was quite high. The hundred dollars per session was just what the manager paid her. If customers paid to request songs, she could take fifty percent of it, and the customers here were very generous–sometimes paying two hundred dollars for a single song.
In just half a month, she had already earned five thousand dollars.
Soon she’d be able to buy Charles that guitar he had his eye on.
Just a little past midnight, Violet finished her last song. As usual, she rose from her chair, bowed lightly and walked toward the break room.
“Violet.”
Someone suddenly called out to her.
Violet turned around and, seeing who it was, smiled politely. “Mr. Phillips.”
“You sing beautifully. Many customers come specifically for you. I really underestimated your influence.” Henry looked at her with increasing satisfaction. Just now, a VIP customer specifically asked me if he could have you sing in their private room. Five thousand dollars for one song.”
She could earn five thousand dollars with one song, which was only three or four minutes long.
