"Should I know her?" Gong Chen lifted his tea cup and took a sip, suppressing the discomfort in his body.
"She... a new colleague, specifically asked me to invite you here."
Mentioning Ye Feifei, Lin Zhiyi glanced at the door.
Could the door have been locked by Ye Feifei?
Gong Chen saw through her thoughts and said with a deep voice, "She has a grudge against you."
"Can I say I don’t know?"
Lin Zhiyi still felt it was all so inexplicable.
Gong Chen twirled his ring, his brow slightly furrowed, "The one who locked the door must know we’re in here."
Hearing this, Lin Zhiyi immediately realized.
She held out her hand to Gong Chen, "Cellphone."
"It got splashed with a glass of wine; it’s broken."
"That coincidental?" Lin Zhiyi felt he was doing it on purpose.
"Why don’t you search me then?" Gong Chen spread his hands.
Under the light, the blood-red ring was particularly eye-catching.
Next was the wedding ring on his middle finger.
Lin Zhiyi withdrew her gaze, pretending she saw nothing and continued to think of a solution.
Gong Chen followed her previous glance and looked at the ring on his finger, his head lowered as he caressed it for a moment.
"The wine cabinet at the far end can be pushed open; there’s a safe inside, and the innermost should have a spare cellphone placed by Chen Jin."
Lin Zhiyi nodded and searched, but she couldn’t find it.
"Where?"
"The innermost, where do you think?"
Gong Chen looked towards the place hidden by curtains.
The last time, Lin Zhiyi had changed clothes behind there.
Lin Zhiyi looked at the curtain and, bracing herself, stepped in.
This was Gong Chen’s private wine tasting area, pushing the wine cabinet, she saw a cabinet embedded in the wall, about as tall as her.
She glanced at it and asked outward, "It requires a password."
Gong Chen was silent for a moment, then finally said, "Guess one you think is most unlikely."
Lin Zhiyi frowned; her eyebrows were almost burning, yet he was playing guessing games with her.
She directly entered... Chen Jin’s birthday.
Nobody could guess that.
Wrong.
Could it be Li Huan?
Wrong again.
Lin Zhiyi entered Old Mr. Gong’s birthday next.
Still wrong, and one more mistake would sound the alarm.
By then, probably everyone in the restaurant would know she and Gong Chen were hidden here as the only man and woman.
"What is it, exactly?" Lin Zhiyi was getting impatient.
As she spoke, she felt a burning breath behind her.
The man supported himself with one hand on the wine rack and stretched the other past her ear to press a string of numbers in front of her.
Lin Zhiyi stood there, stunned.
It was her birthday.
But she hadn’t celebrated her birthday for many years.
The safe clicked open; inside were some auctioned wines and several expensive antique wine glasses.
Lin Zhiyi came back to her senses as if she hadn’t seen those numbers, and directly found the spare cellphone on the bottom layer.
She handed the cellphone to Gong Chen, "This is your territory, you handle it, I’ll wait outside."
After speaking, she walked past Gong Chen and went out.
Gong Chen’s eyes drooped, clenching the cellphone tightly.
Did she hate him this much already?
Lin Zhiyi waited outside for a while, and when Gong Chen came out, his expression was as usual, as if the person who just lost control wasn’t him.
This was the real Gong Chen.
Restrained and cool, always able to detach himself with such indifference.
Just as Lin Zhiyi was about to ask, footsteps from multiple people outside sounded, and she immediately turned to look nervously.
...
The door to the wine cellar was pushed open.
Lin Zhiyi was surprised by the people entering.
"Xiao Ran? Mr. Sang?"
Who would dare knew what was in their hearts.
Li Huan stealthily glanced at someone.
Ye Feifei looked at Li Huan and Chen Jin in shock: "You guys! How did you get in here?"
Li Huan sneered, "Miss Ye, that’s a strange question you’re asking. How else could we have come in? Of course, we walked in."
"That’s impossible!" Ye Feifei blurted out.
Lin Zhiyi said with a smile, "Miss Ye, how do you know that’s impossible?"
"I, I... guessed," Ye Feifei realized she’d slipped and quickly spouted an excuse.
Lin Zhiyi wasn’t a fool. She could pretty much figure out it was Ye Feifei who had locked her and Gong Chen together.
But wasn’t Ye Feifei supposedly Sang Ran’s good friend and bridesmaid?
Doing such a thing, wasn’t she afraid of upsetting Sang Ran?
Were it not for Chen Jin and Li Huan who had received a call and arrived a few minutes before Ye Feifei’s party,
Lin Zhiyi wouldn’t even know how to explain herself.
She wanted to refute Ye Feifei’s abrupt remark, but Sang Ran stepped forward to mediate.
She walked over to Gong Chen’s side and took his arm, "I also trust Third Young Master since it’s all a misunderstanding, let’s forget it."
"Xiao Ran..." Ye Feifei was somewhat unwilling.
"Enough, no more talking. Didn’t you say you wanted to treat my brother and me to a meal? Third Young Master happens to be here, so let’s go together." After speaking, Sang Ran looked up at Gong Chen, her face regaining some color, "Third Young Master, is that alright?"
"Hmm."
Gong Chen responded with a grunt and reached out to take the Green Jade Cane passed to him by Chen Jin.
Sang Ran glanced at the Green Jade Cane, her expression momentarily stiffened.
"I remember you were using a different cane today."
"That one broke," Gong Chen’s peripheral vision swept past Lin Zhiyi.
Lin Zhiyi stood to the side, looking down at her toes.
"Hmm," Sang Ran pursed her lips, then looked back at Lin Zhiyi, "Zhiyi, would you like to join us?"
Lin Zhiyi shook her head, "No, my colleagues are waiting for me. I’m treating them today; I can’t be absent. I should go."
She picked up the bottle of wine from Li Huan’s hand and turned to leave.
Li Huan looked at his now-empty hands, "Hmm? Wait a moment."
Lin Zhiyi didn’t listen and left the wine cellar straightaway.
Shortly after, Li Huan caught up with her.
He grabbed Lin Zhiyi and got straight to the point, "You brought me out here; what do you want to ask?"
