Reborn to Outshine My Ex and His White Moonlight novel Chapter 70

Chapter 70: Chapter 70 Turning the Tide

Chapter 70 -70 Turning the Tide

Chen Jin found Gong Chen silently drinking tea in Li Huan’s office.

“Third Young Master, Miss Lin has been taken away by the eldest young master.”

Gong Chen narrowed his eyes and took out his mobile phone to dial Lin Zhiyi’s number.

It was turned off.

Accompanied by a mechanical voice, the teacup in Gong Chen’s hands cracked.

A dark surge flashed through his eyes, chilling to the bone.

Li Huan glanced at him: “In a rush now? Then why did you pressure her earlier?”

Gong Chen tossed the broken teacup into the trash can, too lazy to explain anything.

Li Huan pointed to the neatly folded sweater on the table: “You even had her wear this sweater, that’s your…”

“Are you very free?”

Gong Chen interrupted and picked up the sweater before turning to leave.

By the time he returned to the Gong Family, it was very late.

Gong Chen stood in the courtyard, lighting a cigarette for himself.

Chen Jin looked at the sky: “Third Young Master, it’s about to rain, let’s go inside.”

Gong Chen lifted his gaze toward the clouds covering the moon, exhaled a white cloud of smoke forcefully, while his peripheral vision stayed fixed on a dark room in Gong Shiyan’s courtyard.

He took out his phone again, but the screen showed a status update from Gong Yan.

A message, “Lazy kitten.”

A photo.

In the photo, Lin Zhiyi was hugging Gong Yan’s arm, leaning on his shoulder, and sleeping. Her delicate profile, even with a scar, did not detract from her beauty; instead, it added a touch of broken charm.

Soft and tender, it made one want to weave her into their bones and blood.

Gong Chen put away his phone, took a deep drag of his cigarette, his eyes denser than the oppressive darkness of the night.

Pitter-patter.

Lin Zhiyi was awakened by the sound of rain.

She looked up at the dim warm light above her head and rubbed her eyes.

“Awake? Have some water.”

Gong Yan handed her a bottle of mineral water.

She accepted the water, embarrassingly said, “Big brother, sorry, I accidentally fell asleep.”

Gong Yan smiled, “I should be the one apologizing. I wanted to bring you to the mid-mountain to see the stars, but it suddenly rained, and we missed the stars and even the moon.”

He pointed at the skylight above their heads.

Lin Zhiyi looked at the dark night sky and laughed along with him.

“It’s quite nice like this.”

“Feeling better?”

As he spoke, Gong Yan raised his hand to tuck the hair sticking to Lin Zhiyi’s cheek behind her ear and then gently caressed the scratch on her face, frowning slightly.

“Girls should take better care of themselves.”

His hand was warm and dry, a very comfortable touch.

But Lin Zhiyi felt uneasy inside. She shifted slightly and covered her face: “The doctor said it’s fine.”

“That’s good,” Gong Yan said without prying further, changing the subject. “The heavy rain makes it difficult to descend the mountain, so let’s watch a movie.”

“Okay.”

Lin Zhiyi nodded in agreement, at least it wasn’t so awkward.

Gong Yan instructed the driver to drop the screen and specifically played a comedy movie.

Watching a movie in the car on a rainy day was a unique experience.

Lin Zhiyi laughed at several scenes, seemingly forgetting all the embarrassing moments.

Halfway through the movie, the rain stopped.

Gong Yan instructed the driver to drive down the mountain.

Upon returning to the Gong Family, Gong Yan walked her back to the courtyard.

“Big brother, thank you,” Lin Zhiyi expressed her gratitude.

“Do we still need to be so formal between us? Zhiyi, don’t worry, it will all pass,” Gong Yan said as he gently touched her head.

Lin Zhiyi nodded and waved before entering the courtyard.

She tiptoed back to her room, but the light snapped on behind her.

“Finally know to come back?” Liu He sat on the sofa with an aggrieved face.

“Mom.”

Lin Zhiyi turned around, and Liu He screamed when she saw her face.

“Ah! What happened to your face? I’ve always told you to take good care of your face since you were young. What if you are left with scars? Song Wanqiu, that bitch, I will never let her off!”

“It’s okay, it’s all over. The doctor also said I’m fine, and as long as I apply the medicine on time, there won’t be any scars,” Lin Zhiyi quickly interrupted Liu He’s words.

Li Huan then tossed out a sentence at just the right moment.

“Please watch the drama rationally.”

Implying that Song Wanqiu deserved the beating.

Coupled with Lin Zhiyi’s timely release of an apology, which was sincere and even took the blame onto herself, she instantly became the object of public sympathy.

Soon, the winds of opinion online began to shift.

“I never thought the elegant goddess could be so ugly off-screen. If it were me, I’d slap her even harder.”

“What exactly did Song Wanqiu say? I’m really curious, it must have been something to anger the other person this much.”

“Do Song Wanqiu’s fans feel the shame? They called others a ‘vicious woman’, but looking at this surveillance, it’s hard to tell who’s more like one.”

Later, Song Wanqiu’s fans began to post the cease and desist letters they received for defamation and insult.

They went to Song Wanqiu for help.

Song Wanqiu immediately came out sobbing, responding, “I’m sorry, I really didn’t know things would turn out this way. I’ve said before that Zhiyi and I had too much to drink and a small misunderstanding, but we’ve resolved it, we’re still good friends. I never asked anyone to cyberbully Zhiyi.”

The implication was that she had nothing to do with her fans’ behavior.

Wasn’t she looking for sympathy in her video earlier so her fans would attack Lin Zhiyi?

Now that the situation had turned against her, she quickly distanced herself from her fans, but those who had spoken for her each received a cease and desist letter, more spiteful than abandoning allies after crossing a river.

No wonder the fans decided to unfollow and backlash.

Song Wanqiu’s reputation, which she took pride in, suffered a huge blow.

Lying on the bed, Lin Zhiyi burst out laughing, thinking to herself that the tactic of letting someone have enough rope to hang themselves was indeed powerful.

But the cease and desist letters posted by the fans online were very professional, it must have been an extremely efficient team to have responded so quickly.

Who could it be?

She remembered Gong Yan telling her not to worry.

She opened WeChat, just about to send a thank you message to Gong Yan, when she saw the photo he had posted on his Moments.

Feeling a bit shy, she quickly sent a message.

“Brother, thank you.”

“For what?”

“The cease and desist letter.”

Gong Yan was silent for a few seconds.

“It’s good that you’re alright. I just posted your photo, if you mind, I’ll delete it.”

“No worries, you’re my brother, after all.”
