Natalia & Andrei
Natalia
I spotted Lilith near the refreshment table, surrounded by a small group of admirers. She was laughing at something one of them had said, soaking up the praise like a sponge. As I approached, I overheard one of them gushing about how amazing the summer solstice ball was going to be now that it would be hosted by Moonshadow.
As if she hadn’t fucking cheated to get that outcome. But right now, I didn’t care about who hosted which parties.
“I need to talk to you,” I said, interrupting her conversation. “Now.”
Her admirers shot me dirty looks, but Lilith waved them away with a simpering smile. “Luna business, darlings. I’ll be right back.”
I pulled her away from the crowd, behind one of the large festival tents where we wouldn’t be overheard. Once we were alone, I turned to face her.
“You did it,” I snapped. “You tampered with the rope.”
Lilith clasped her hand over her chest in mock offense. “I have no idea what you’re talking about, Natalia. The rope broke because Moonshadow is stronger than Ashmoor. Simple as that.”
“Bullshit,” I spat. “I saw your face right before it happened. You knew it was going to break.”
“Prove it,” she sneered, folding her arms across her chest. “Oh wait, you can’t. Because I didn’t do anything.”
I stared at her for a moment, then reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone. “Actually, I can’t prove that. But I can prove something else.”
Her eyes narrowed. “What are you talking about?”
Without answering, I pulled up the audio I had recorded outside the tavern. The one where she’d admitted to drugging me at the banquet, to forging letters in my handwriting, to setting up the camera to record me with another Alpha.
I hit play.
“By exposing you for the slut you are,” Lilith’s voice crackled through the speaker. “You always were so fucking perfect, weren’t you? But I knew better…”
Her face went from confusion to shock to horror in the span of seconds. By the time the recording reached the part where she openly admitted to drugging my champagne, she was as white as a sheet.
“Of course it was me. David may be a pig, but he’s not stupid enough to drug a Luna in public.”
I stopped the recording, watching with satisfaction as Lilith swallowed hard, causing her throat to bob.
“That’s… that’s not real,” she stammered. “You faked that.”

“Should we test that theory? Should we play it for Andrei and see what he thinks?”
“You wouldn’t.”
I smiled coldly. “I have concrete proof that you drugged me at the banquet, Lilith. Drugging a Luna is a serious offense. You, of all people, know that. Banishment is just one example of the type of punishment an offense like that receives.”
She flinched at that. Banishment was essentially a death sentence for most wolves. Lone rogues rarely survived long on their own, especially females. She would have to join a pack of rogues to survive, and she had already spent enough time as a captive in that kind of place.
Lilith didn’t want to give up her cushy life just to go back to that hell.
